Bongo Boy Records Release ‘Emidio’s Rock Den Vol. 2 by Various Artists’

Raw real riffs rush through Kidd Comet’s colossal “(She’s My) Serpentine”. The careening quality of the piece works wonders as does the defiant attitude. Deep in the center of it all are those commanding vocals that rise above the din. A feral spirit defines Howzat’s “Tell Me”. Swinging chaotically, Howzat messes with listener expectations featuring…

There are punk scenes all over the world – vital, colorful, wonderfully abrasive subcultures keeping the flame of independent music burning. James Blake Shares Video For “Barefoot In The Park (Feat. Rosalía)”

“Barefoot in the Park (feat. Rosalía)” is one of the many highlights on Assume Form, with The FADER calling it “a sensual number that is addictive,” SPIN pronouncing it “a speedball of minor-key melancholia and flying sparks,” and Idolator declaring the collaboration “lingers in the mind long after the song ends.” Assume Form showcases Blake’s continual evolution as an artist, and Consequence of Sound proclaims the album “a remarkable achievement by one of the most original songwriters of his generation.” HYPEBEAST observes, “the British musical mastermind has provided listeners with one of the most exciting installments yet in the young artist’s career,” and The Associated Press asserts that “listening to ‘Assume Form’ proves Blake is more than a musician’s musician – and that he could be on his way to pop star status.”

Peter Cat Recording Co. have announced their debut album, ‘Bismillah’

Taking their enigmatic name from Haruki Murakami’s jazz club in Tokyo, Peter Cat Recording Co. trade in a kaleidoscopic blend of gypsy jazz, psychedelic cabaret, space disco, bossa supernova, Bollywood and uneasy listening. It’s an unlikely but masterful balance which makes the New Delhi five piece every inch the sonic anomaly in their hometown as how they read on paper. The band beguiled and frustrated in equal measure in 2018, with the release of ‘Portrait Of A Time 2010-2016’, an anthology album which gathered together re-mastered versions of various hidden gems from the band’s ramshackle back catalogue, previously recorded in the living room of frontman Suryakant Sawhney. Whilst the title track found its way onto Tracks Of The Year lists at the Guardian & NME, it was tricky to get a firm grip on the five piece who – despite hailing from the Hindi-speaking capital of India – emerged sounding like a twenty first century big band reboot.

JR – “BE MY MAN”

This song is about making the same mistake over and over, hoping that you learn from it. Going into a new relationship with unbridled confidence that a disaster isn’t waiting to happen. “BE MY MAN” was inspired by leaving the city and going back to my hometown.

Ceschi & Factor Chandelier’s ‘Sad, Fat Luck’ LP out now

Ceschi’s music lives in some liminal space between left-field hip hop, folk punk and indie rock. It’s hard to explain, so on planes he generally tells people that he sounds “something like like Ed Sheeran,” and they nod. He has worked with Saskatchewan, Canadian producer Factor Chandelier for over a decade as they formed the backbone of their Fake Four Inc. record label. Their 2015 record, “Broken Bone Ballads” built a cult following within the indie rap and DIY punk communities. 2019’s ‘Sad, Fat Luck’ is part eulogy to many lost friends, part breakup album, part US-born-Latino analysis of Trump’s America, and part ode to aging, featuring guest vocals from Sammus & Astronautalis. Whenever the opportunity arises, between globe-spanning tours and marathon writing sessions, Tune-Yards’ co-producer and bassist Nate Brenner makes a point of holing up in the duo’s Oakland studio and churning out countless musical ideas for his psych pop project, Naytronix. These sessions, as irregular as they are fruitful, have long formed the backbone of Naytronix’s releases. Combining his knack for taut and melodic bass lines with swirling, dreamy soundscapes, Naytronix’s first two albums (2012’s Dirty Glow and 2015’s Mister Divine), as well as his work scoring Boots Riley’s 2018 film Sorry to Bother You, established Brenner as a dynamic songwriter and composer in his own right.

Bristol born, and now London based band Junodream are today releasing their new single ‘Odd Behaviour’. The “wry sequel to [previous single] Terrible Things” as they put it themselves, the track examines exactly how bad people can get when communication between two people breaks down. “It’s not easy realising you’re in the middle of something rotten, especially when you don’t know what the problem is. Eventually you find yourself drifting away from someone you care about and the behaviour that comes to the surface can be kind of messed up,” they went on to say.

Yes, we need more honesty in religious music, but Deánā sometimes takes her forthrightness to an extreme.…
