AMERICANA ARTIST K PHILLIPS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM

The impactfully concise songs on Dirty Wonder are complimented by teardrop pedal steel guitar, rollicking blues piano, fuzzed out guitars, and gospel girl group vocals.

Writing and living through Dirty Wonder has been a profound process for K, and he hopes that his songs have an impact upon those who hear them. “While I am here, I want to connect through writing stories that help people get through whatever they’re going through,” he says.

Hite To Release Debut Album ‘Light Of A Strange Day’ March 24th

The debut album from Hite entitled ‘Light Of A Strange Day’ is set for release March 24th via Six Degrees Records. Hite is the new project from Julia Easterlin and the follow up to her collaboration with Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Toure on their #1 iTunes world charting album, ‘Touristes.’

Julia Easterlin’s earlier work combined looping and layering her voice to create her music. On Touristes, she began to move away from what she calls “the looping artist pigeonhole” and the current incarnation of her work, Hite is more of a vehicle for lyrical expression. This record, Light Of A Strange Day, she says, “is a natural progression, away from loops and into more flexible, expressive forms of storytelling. In the making of the album, i left behind all my familiar tools (loops, computer, effects pedals, rhyming lyrics) and played only acoustic instruments, one take, one mic, open ended, stream-of-consciousness. it was a completely different approach to music making, and releasing it under the Julia Easterlin name (which is so attached to loops and upbeat, poppy vocal music) felt somehow… dishonest. it’s been a decade since I wrote my first piece of looped vocal music, and i needed a fresh new home for my new music, so different from previous work.”

I KEEP IT TO MYSELF – THE BEST OF WILKO JOHNSON

Continuing his association with the reactivated Chess imprint, the label that issued so many of the tunes that inspired him in his youth, I Keep It To Myself – The Best Of Wilko Johnson draws together 25 tracks recorded between 2008 and 2012 by the legendary guitarist and songwriter with backing largely provided by Blockheads Norman Watt-Roy (bass) and Dylan Howe (drums), the same rhythm section that performed on Wilko’s enormously successful Going Back Home album with Roger Daltrey.

Including re-workings of Wilko penned Dr Feelgood favourites ‘She Does It Right’, ‘Twenty Yards Behind’, ‘Sneaking Suspicion’ and ‘Roxette’, alongside further dynamic numbers such as ‘Turned 21’, ‘Some Kind Of Hero’, ‘Out In The Traffic’, Barbed Wire Blues’, ‘Down By The Waterside’ and ‘I Really Love Your Rock ‘n’ Roll’ – I Keep It To Myself – The Best Of Wilko Johnson is a splendid collection of high octane rhythm & blues with that unmistakable Wilko Johnson Fender greatness stamped all over it. Brandon Krebs’ Refuge In Exile out St. Patrick’s Day, March 2017

“Avant-garde pop for everybody, filled with romantically gloomy soul voyages” is the best way to shorthand the windswept ache of Brandon Krebs’ widescreen rock. “Making records for me is a therapeutic process almost,” Seattle songwriter/musician/producer Brandon Krebs explains. “It’s my favorite thing in the world.”

Krebs has decided to go with creating under his own name for new album Refuge In Exile, due out in mid-March. A deliberate change up from the heavy guitar-rock of his last release Tethered to A Piece of Falling Sky (recorded under previous moniker Stranded Sullivan), Refuge In Exile’s instantly breathtaking sweep and rhythmically undulating hooks challenge its title’s reveal of how it was made intimately and mindfully in an uncertain two-year period of the artist’s life.
