When Elias Paul Reidy (formerly of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) and Brett Hellings formed The Soul Shakers after a chance meeting outside of a club on the Sunset Strip, they had one single goal in mind – to bring good ole-fashioned, ass-shaking rock ‘n’ roll back into the forefront.
After two years of writing in Los Angeles and then a move to Nashville, Hellings and Reidy were ready to lay down the tracks for their forthcoming full length LP. The two flew to Philadelphia to record at Soundmine Recording Studios with producer Dan Malsch (Motionless in White, Tantric, Framing Hanley), featuring Chuck Treece from Bad Brains on drums. The result is a culmination of the diverse lives they’ve led and experiences they’ve had along the way.

Alicia brought out special guests throughout the night including John Mayer for a mash up of “If I Ain’t Got You” and his song “Gravity” with Questlove playing drums. Nas took the stage for a duet of “One Love” and “She Don’t Really Care” and Q-Tip duetted with Alicia on “You Don’t Know My Name.” For one of the last songs of the night, Jay-Z surprised the crowd when he joined Alicia for an epic performance of “Empire State of Mind.”

We want this campaign to change this and help them realize they’re beautiful regardless of their body shape, age, race, etc.!

Proxy releases Tamir Rice inspired, “I’m Magnificent (Remix)”
“I’m Magnificent” is the song “Magnificent”, re-inspired by Tamir Rice. He’s Magnificent. Watching my son play, I remembered the feeling of being invincible as a child. What it really felt like to believe you were a superhero and your future was limitless. This new understanding of Magnificence comes in the midst of tragedy. While young black men are being villainized by so many, I wanted to remind us all of what Magnificence looks like on an 8-year-old child. The humanity and beauty of it all. The aggression of the song matches the mindset of a child who sees the world as his oyster. He will not be defeated, in life or in death.
Dedicated to remembering Tamir Rice and all the magnificent lives lost to any violence.
