“I BELIEVE” VIDEO

Emanuel Ayvas penned the song “I Believe” at the piano with one hand (his non-dominant left) while the other was bound up in a sling following a major shoulder surgery. Confined to his tiny Brooklyn apartment and ordered not to move it for 6 weeks, he found himself pondering both his cranky perspective on life as all touring and guitar playing came to a complete halt, along with the current state of the world. What he came up with was a song of hope that was to become the thematic centerpiece of Emanuel and the Fear’s new album “Primitive Smile”.

CERISE NEW SINGLE

LA by way of Chicago songstress Cerise is set to release her debut album ‘Smoke Screen Dreams,’ on June 24. This week she shares the title track + video. Watch the dreamy video over at Impose Magazine + YouTube, and stream the track on SoundCloud.

Although music has been integral to Cerise’s life since as far back as she can remember, it was her teenage days spent listening to such dark and romantic luminaries as The Cure, Bauhaus and Siouxsie And The Banshees that had the most dramatic effect. “That was the first time music really spoke to me,” she remembers. “The darkness and beauty of those bands seduced me into this other world and having a big interest in music. But it always seemed like it was the hardest thing in the world to actually do. To me, being a musician in a band seemed like being a ballerina- like you had to be trained for it from the age of six to become this amazing artist.”

TOBACCO SHARES RIPPLING NEW TRACK “HUMAN OM”

On his fourth solo album, TOBACCO winds up coining an apt name for his vast empire of moldering electro-fied dirt: Sweatbox Dynasty. The new LP—his second for Ghostly International on August 19th—finds the rural recluse resurrecting an old approach to hack a new path through the muck. This may be his most unintentionally psychedelic and left-field creation yet, full of rhythms that start and stop like a tractor on its last piston, resonating melodies made to fuel transcendental meltdowns, and vocals that hiss, gurgle, and growl.

STEVE COLE NEW ALBUM

Known for consistently cranking out chart-topping singles that deploy big vibrant pop hooks, contemporary jazz saxophonist Steve Cole conjures a sonic escapade with the hypnotic “Mirage,” the first single from his forthcoming eighth album, “Turn It Up,” which will be released July 15 by Artistry Music. Radio programmers were instantly spellbound, making the track from the David Mann-produced set of R&B grooves and soul-powered sojourns the No. 1 most added single on the Billboard BDS chart.

The entrancing single on which electronic beats bombard the senses before chill tenor and soprano sax leads and a soothing trumpet undercurrent take command of the illusion is one of nine new songs on the session, eight of which were composed or co-composed by Cole. The tune reflects his hometown roots and ardor for Chicago’s dance music scene. It’s one of three major cities that helped shape the collection.

PANTENE PUTS CURLS ON DISPLAY WITH NEW CAMPAIGN

Jillian Hervey, lead singer of R&B/Soul band LION BABE, will take center stage this summer as she joins Pantene to celebrate curly hair. Summer means longer days, weekends at the beach and for curly hair women, frizz! This summer, Hervey and Pantene will give women the curls they’ve always wanted by helping them fight frizz by strengthening their curls.

For years, curly-haired women have been told that in order to fight frizz they have to protect their hair against humidity. While humidity is in fact a contributing factor to frizz, the biggest culprit is actually the strength of your hair. With the Pantene Pro-V system, curly hair will be so strong that it’s practically frizz-free all day and will be able to survive summer’s most grueling torture tests, such as a day at the beach, an outdoor summer concert or on the hot and humid subway.
