USHER TEAMS UP WITH JUSTIN BIEBER FOR NEW SINGLE

Usher teamed up with his young protégé, Justin Bieber, for his new single, “Somebody to Love.”   The upbeat dance song is a true collaboration and features the two trading lines and singing together.   The tune is featured on Bieber’s My World 2.0 album, which has sold over one-million copies since its release two months ago.  

BIEBER WALKS INTO GLASS DOOR

Justin Bieber walked right into the glass of an automatic revolving door while trying to exit a German hotel.   Video of the incident is all over the web.

JONAS BROTHERS ON GMA

Throngs of screaming girls gathered to watch the Jonas Brothers along with pal Demi Lovato when they all stopped by Good Morning America on Friday. The guys played the old favorite “Burnin’ Up,” in addition to a new tune, “JONAS L.A.,” from their TV show, plus a track from their upcoming Disney movie. The brothers were joined by tourmate and Camp Rock 2 co-star Demi Lovato for the first single off the movie’s soundtrack, “Can’t Back Down.”  

RUSSELL CROWE COVERS SEAN KINGSTON

Russell Crowe, along with his Robin Hood co-stars Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle recently performed a cover of Sean Kingston’s 2007 breakthrough hit “Beautiful Girls.”     The guys were doing interviews for the movie when they broke out and performed the song.   EW.com has video.

SHAKIRA WANTS FANS TO DO THE “WAKA WAKA”

Shakira is asking fans to do the “Waka Waka” dance.   The Colombian superstar is trying to get as many fans as possible to do the dance that accompanies her new official song of the FIFA World Cup 2010.   Fans are encouraged to record themselves dancing the “Waka Waka” and to upload it to YouTube at YouTube.com/ShakiraWakaWaka.  

LADY ANTEBELLUM ANNOUNCE FIRST HEADLINING TOUR AND NEW SINGLE

Lady Antebellum have announced they will be hitting the road for their first headlining tour. Cities and dates will be revealed in the coming weeks with the first one getting announced today. The tour will stop in 35-cities and is slated to begin September 20th and wrap sometime in November. David Nail will open the shows. Lady A also announced that the next single from their current album, Need You Now, will be “Our Kind of Love.”

BONO UNDERGOES SURGERY

U2 frontman Bono had emergency back surgery on Friday. According to Reuters, the singer injured himself while preparing for the next leg of the band’s 360 Degree world tour and was operated on in a Munich hospital. A band spokesperson revealed that Bono spent the weekend recovering in the hospital and is now home for further recuperation. U2 will soon release a statement regarding their upcoming tour, which was set to kick off in Salt Lake City on June 3rd.

GAGA DROPS HER SECURITY TEAM

It’s only a rumor, but it appears that Lady Gaga might have made a change within her security team — the change being that she fired them all.   According to British paper The Sun, the pop star was furious after a fan was able to get on stage during a show in Japan.   A source said that she decided to fire her security “on the spot” because “she goes out of her way to make her shows perfect and she expects the same from her people.”

KYLIE CHANNELS THE KILLERS

Kylie Minogue is speaking about her forthcoming album, Aphrodite, which is due in stores on July 6th.   According to British paper the Daily Star, the Aussie pop star said that the effort will feature “really euphoric tunes,” and that she was inspired by The Killers’ song “Human.”

MADONNA SHOWS HER DANCERS A GOOD TIME

Madonna knows that her back-up dancers help make her tours special, and she showed her appreciation for them last week.   According to British paper the Evening Standard, Madge took her whole crew from Germany to London, and treated them to bottles of Crystal champagne, racking up a tab of 15-thousand bucks.   A source said that it was Madonna showing her gratitude for the dancers’ hard work on her Sticky & Sweet tour.

MADONNA TALKS ABOUT MALAWI

Two men in Malawi have been sentenced to 14 years in prison just for being homosexual, and Madonna, who knows a little something about the African nation after adopting two kids from there, finds it despicable.   In a statement, the Material Girl said the country just “took a giant step backward,” and that she is “shocked and saddened by the decision.”   Read the full statement at PerezHilton.com.

ROB THOMAS TALKS ABOUT DARYL’S HOUSE

Rob Thomas stopped by Hall & Oates frontman Daryl Hall’s home last week to tape an episode of his Internet show Live From Daryl’s House.   The singer-songwriter wrote on his Twitter about the experience, saying that he had a “great time,” and that it was “so cool” to sing Hall & Oates and matchbox twenty tracks with Daryl.   No word on when the episode will be posted online.

DAVID COOK TEAMS UP WITH RYAN TEDDER

Underwood Will Return to Idol for Finale

Carrie Underwood will return to American Idol for the season finale on Wednesday. She’s set to perform “Undo It” during the episode.   Underwood, who won the American Idol competition in 2005, sang on the FOX series earlier this year during the Idol Gives Back special.

KRIS ALLEN TALKS “LIVE LIKE WE’RE DYING”

Kris Allen has a hit with his first single, “Live Like We’re Dying.”   We recently caught up with the reigning American Idol champ, who told us that he’s really proud of how well the song has done (See Related Cut #3).   Kris won’t be the reigning Idol champ for much longer.   A new winner will be crowned Wednesday night on FOX.

CIARA SAYS BET IS BANNING HER “RIDE” VIDEO

Rap-Up.com caught up with Ciara to get her reaction to BET’s decision to ban her “Ride” music video. Ci Ci says it’s “definitely very unfortunate” and hopes “one day” it will be added to rotation. The singer is confused on why the clip, which features Ludacris, was banned, especially when the network plays other “sensual videos.”   However, she’s “willing to make an edit to make it suitable for whatever it is that would be more comfortable to the network.”

RICK ROSS COLLABS WITH JAY-Z

Rick Ross sat down with MTV.com to talk about his recent collaboration with Jay-Z. After Hova heard a snippet of the beat, the “Super Fly” rapper told MTV that he’s never “seen somebody come up with a verse that potent in less than two or three minutes.” While making the song in Las Vegas during Jay’s BP3 tour, the Miami boss described the experience as “a surreal feeling, something that’s real hard to describe.”   The track is expected to appear on Ross’ upcoming Teflon Don album, which arrives on July 6th.

Mike Dirnt of Green Day has paired with Macbeth shoes to deliver fans another pair. This sneaker will be a black and white patent leather high-top and according to AbsolutePunk.net, it will be made with no animal byproducts and is considered 100 percent vegan.
