GAGA MAKES TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO NYC

Lady Gaga kicked off a sold-out four-night stand at historic Radio City Music Hall in her home town of New York City on Wednesday night.   It marked Gaga’s first show since canceling and postponing a string of dates due to exhaustion last week.   For nearly two hours, Gaga put on a full throttle performance featuring perverse dance theatrics for her fans and some conservatively dressed VIPs like Donald Trump.   During the show, she reminisced about growing up in Manhattan, thanked her fans sincerely and gave a shout-out to her dad, who was in the house.   Gaga also stopped during “Speechless” to pay tribute to the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. She said, “There’s a lot of people in the world right now who need our help.” Gaga is donating all proceeds from her Radio City finale on Sunday, as well as merchandise sales from that night and online merchandise sales that day, to the quake victims. KE$HA TOPS BILLBOARD HOT 100 FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT WEEK

Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” will remain on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the fifth straight week.   Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” is at number two for the sixth straight frame, while former number one track “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys holds down the number three spot.   Young Money’s “BedRock” featuring Lloyd jumps four notches to number four and Iyaz’s “Replay” falls one spot to number five.  

MILEY CYRUS TALKS SUICIDE PREVENTION

In a new video on YouTube, Miley Cyrus is speaking out about suicide prevention.   Cyrus teamed up with the non-profit organization To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA), which helps people struggling with depression, addiction and suicide.

SPICE GIRLS MUSICAL

A Spice Girls musical is on the way to the stage.   Judy Craymer, producer of the film and theater hit Mamma Mia!, will help to bring about the new musical, tentatively titled Viva Forever.   The show will be based on Spice Girls songs and will harness the distinct “girl power” personality of the group.   The Spice Girls have sold over 75-million records and topped the chart in every country in the world with their albums and hit singles. They have gathered many awards and accolades, including four Brit Awards, three American Music Awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards, three World Music Awards and one MTV Video Music Award.   No word on when the show will grace the stage, but we will keep you posted.  

CHRISTINA AGUILERA LOWERS PRICE OF HOUSE

Christina Aguilera has been trying to sell her Hollywood home for almost two years now and she’s already dropped the price by a million dollars.   Now, the singer is taking some money off yet again.   According to the L-A Times, Aguilera has reduced the asking price from 6.995-million dollars to 6.25-million.   Learn more at LATimes.com.

TALYOR SWIFT HAS DOUBLE DUTIES FOR HOPE FOR HAITI

Not only will Taylor Swift perform at the Hope For Haiti earthquake relief telethon tonight, she will also be working the phones for it. Taylor told Nashville’s newspaper The Tennessean, “I’ve never actually worked a phone bank before, but I want to do everything I can to help out this horrible situation. This one was an immediate yes.” The event, which airs tonight at 8 PM Eastern, will be featured on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, the CW, HBO, MTV, Vh1 and CMT.  

P!NK SURPRISES BETTE MIDLER ON STAGE

People who went to see Bette Midler’s show in Las Vegas earlier in the week got quite the treat.   PerezHilton.com reports that P!nk surprised everyone, even Bette herself, and came up on stage to sing a duet.   The two divas had an impromptu performance of the song “The Rose.”   Learn more at PerezHilton.com.

“JUST DANCE” GOES FIVE-TIMES PLATINUM

Lady Gaga has just set another record!   According to PerezHilton.com, the pop star’s song “Just Dance” has just been certified five-times platinum after being downloaded five-million times.   It’s the first tune ever by a female solo artist to have that many downloads.

GAGA WANTS ANOTHER TATTOO

ROB THOMAS IS WRITING IN THE STUDIO

OMARION TO JUDGE AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW

We’ve just learned the self-proclaimed “King Of Dance” has signed on to be the new judge for MTV’s hit show, Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew. That’s right, Omarion will join Lil Mama and JC Chasez and give advice to young dance crews vying for the 100-thousand dollar cash prize and ultimate bragging rights. The show is scheduled to premiere Thursday at 10 PM Eastern — followed by season two of Taking The Stage at 11 PM Eastern.

Omarion said in a statement: “I’m so excited to be a judge on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. Dancing and performing is what I do and being a judge on this show will allow me to give creative feedback to the newest and hottest dancers on the rise.”

JA RULE’S 2007 GUN CASE STILL PENDING

Ja Rule is still looking to fight the charges stemming from his 2007 gun case. According to The New York Post, the rapper’s defense lawyer told the judge that the officers who found an unlicensed gun in Rule’s Maybach had no reason to search the car. The motion to drop the charges was denied by a Manhattan judge on Thursday morning. Rule currently faces up to three and a half years in prison if found guilty. He will remain out on bail and is due back in court on March 3rd.

JAZMINE SULLIVAN WORKING ON NEW LP

According to ConcreteLoop.com, Jazmine Sullivan is hard at work on the follow-up to her debut album, Fearless. Three records have already been completed, titled “Vanity Six,” “Blow” and “You Get On My Nerves.” The GRAMMY-nominated singer will receive contributions from Ne-Yo, Los Da Mystro and Ryan Leslie. It’s not yet known if the project will be released this year.

LIL WAYNE’S NFL PLAYOFF PREDICATION

According to MTV News, Lil Wayne has deiced to share who he believes will be the last team standing during the NFC Championship game. The emcee explained, “The Vikings will win because of the running attack.” Weezy added, “The Saints give up about 150 rushing yards a game, and the Vikings have arguably the best running back in the game [Adrian Peterson]. … I believe the Vikings’ defense will frustrate Brees.” The New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings will kick off at 6:40 PM on Sunday evening.

DAY26 MEMBER TO RELEASE SEX TAPE

Willie of Day26 plans to release a sex tape next month. No, not that kind…the singer is working on his anticipated mixtape, titled Sex Tape. The project is being dubbed the “soundtrack to your bedroom” and will be released on Valentine’s Day via his official Web site, NoivakMusic.com.

Willie said in a statement: “I am extremely excited about this project as the main purpose of the mixtape is to showcase my abilities as a songwriter and bring awareness to the launch of my label Noivak Music Group.”

PARAMORE IS GOLD

LINKIN PARK TALKS NEW EFFORT

Linkin Park spoke with MTV News earlier this week about their new album. Mike Shinoda told the outlet that the recording process for their new disc is going really well and he feels “entirely different” than he did during production of their previous records. Shinoda also stated it’s hard to describe the sound of their new work as it doesn’t really fall into any category. This is the fourth album for Linkin Park and is the follow-up to their extremely successful 2007 record, Minutes to Midnight.

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR TEDDY PENDERGRASS

The official public viewing for R&B legend Teddy Pendergrass will be held today at the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church in Philadelphia from noon to 8:00 PM. The private viewing for the soul singer’s family and loved ones will take place tomorrow at 9 AM. As previously reported, Pendergrass died after failing to recover from colon cancer surgery. He was only 59 years old.
