The story of Brother Son begins with four unlikely friends of disparate musical tastes and backgrounds uniting over a shared love of Alabama Shakes, The Strokes, Mac DeMarco, and ganj. And so they began in early 2017 with their debut EP Young & Pretty, the first order of business being to play as many shows in as many midwestern cities as they could. Rising quickly to local prominence, by the end of that year they began headlining and selling out shows at venues like El Club, The Shelter, and The Loving Touch. Now, with a tour under their belts as well, they’ve been gearing up to release their second LP, Goodies, with even more tucked away for a third project slated for early 2020. With all that locked and loaded, their next move will be east and west coast tours this summer.

ARCHSPIRE’s Music Used as Template for AI-Generated Death Metal
Dadabots is special artificial intelligent (AI) software that creates music. The software, developed by Berkley College of Music graduates Zack Zukowski and CJ Carr, is built upon a “recurrent neural network” that receives data and then uses it to interpret musical sequences on its own. Simply stated, the software teaches itself how to compose music based on the work of an existing band as its data-set.
After several failed attempts at creating stable, listenable death metal, the creators turned to the music of ARCHSPIRE, which ended up being the perfect template to generating metal tunes via artificial intelligence.

The forever uncompromising nerdcore duo MC Lars & Mega Ran are back with the sixth single from their upcoming album The Dewey Decibel System (7 June). “The Masque of the Red Death” tells the story of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic “Masque of the Red Death” over a haunting 3/4 waltz time signature. The track was produced by Brooklyn producer Rich Matthew (Soul Coughing’s Mike Doughty, RiFF RAFF, De La Soul) with help from Portland’s Samarei (Watsky, Spose, Blindspotting).

The full length record is set for release on May 3rd.
