Mary Zimmer Wastes No Time, Launches New Band
After announcing her departure from White Empress less than two months ago, Mary Zimmer has been busy with Erik Tyler in a new band called Santa Marta and the pair have already released three songs with more to come.
When asked about the new band it became apparent that Erik has had a vision for this for a while now and as soon as Mary became available, he knew he had someone with the vocal prowess to see this through.
The band released three singles in the last month alone “Violated” “Drowning In Fire” and the latest “Cersei” all of them available at your favorite digital retailers, Spotify and Youtube as well.
GLASS ANIMALS ANNOUNCE NEW SONG ‘YOUTH’
Following the success of ‘Life Itself,’ Glass Animals announce hypnotic new song and video ‘Youth’ from their hotly anticipated sophomore album How To Be A Human Being. MTV to Unveil Nominees for 2016 VMAs via Facebook Live
MTV will unveil the nominees for the 2016 “MTV Video Music Awards” via a Facebook Live broadcast from New York City with a simulcast across more than nine partners including the nominated artists, press outlets, and brands, such as Billboard, Elite Daily, Entertainment Weekly, Hugo Gloss, Mail Online, People, Refinery29, The Sun, Us Weekly and Getty. Massive Attack have today updated their ‘Fantom’ app with two new pieces of music: ‘Come Near Me’ and ‘The Spoils’.
Developed by a team including Massive Attack’s Robert del Naja and launched in January 2016, ‘Fantom’ is a sensory music player that remixes and reforms songs uniquely using a variety of environmental variables including location, movement, time of day, heartbeat and the integral moving image camera.
In addition to a constantly evolving listening experience, ‘Fantom’ also allows users to create and record unique audio-visual clips, which can be shared and saved and easily shared via socials.

Electric Piquete Releases New Single “Cut Me Loose”
Today, Electric Piquete, two-time Miami New Times “Best Latin Band” award winners, released a new single called “Cut Me Loose”. Shampoo Debuts “Inside Out (All That I Want)” Via Impose
Shampoo is a three-piece band from Atlanta that plays a misty-eyed, blissful update of c81 indie and top 40 new wave. Their new album, Terrible Heat, is as emotionally wrought and pleasure-center direct as a soap opera, and draws influence from anime theme songs, new jack swing, deep psych, and lots of Madonna. It was recorded, re-recorded, and fine-tuned throughout 2015, and will be released August 17 on Bear Kids Recordings.
Field Mouse has unveiled a third single from their sophomore album, Episodic, out August 5th via Topshelf Records. “The Order Of Things” hushed guitar sway recalls It’s a Shame about Ray era Lemonheads. Grammy Award winner singer/songwriter Anthony Hamilton has earned the #1 spot this week on the Urban Adult Contemporary Radio Chart with his hit single “Amen” after 25 weeks on the move. This marks Hamilton’s third time topping the chart, having “Pray For Me” and “Can’t Let Go” reach #1 as well.
The single is off Hamilton’s fifth studio album What I’m Feelin’, which was released this spring via RCA Records. With diverse tracks produced by Mark Batson, Salaam Remi and James Poyser, the album entered at #2 on both Billboard’s R&B Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.

MUNA stated about the video, “This video was a very collaborative process between us and the director, Zaiba Jabbar. We wanted to portray ourselves and our friends as empowered anti-heroines who reclaim a space to explore and be free. As one of the few self-produced girl bands signed to a major, we have learned to be as self-assured as we are self-sufficient—and we’ve learned to thrive on that. Breaking into a building and claiming it as our own is kind of a metaphor for that experience. Though the song deals with using one’s voice to recover from different forms of abuse, we were interested in filling this video with triumphant imagery rather than imagery of subjugation. It was also important for us to include people in the video who have found their own mediums for self-expression in spite of a multiplicity of silencing forces. The benefit concert, which sold out within two hours of tickets going on-sale, took place at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
