Ben Marc shares “Sometimes Slow” from forthcoming ‘Glass Effect’ LP
London-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Ben Marc has shared another single from his forthcoming Glass Effect album (out this Spring from Innovative Leisure). “Sometimes Slow” pairs a virtuosic skittering drum performance with a circling xylophone pattern that opens up with layers of guitar, synths, and looping percussion. Alongside previous album singles “Mustard,” “Give Me Time,” and “The Way We Are,” the new song is illustrative of his singular vision, unifying a profusion of influences (that chart his personal journey from the concert hall, to the jazz club, to the dance club, and back) into a sublime whole, underscoring the evolution of his quest for a distinctive sound: lambent, low-key, and dizzyingly intricate.

Today, Von’s estate shares an animated clip for “Don’t Play That” ft. 21 Savage, a banger that is already one of the late artist’s most successful singles to date. Produced by Kid Hazel, a Slaughter Gang sound architect, “Don’t Play That” finds both rappers flexing stutter-stepping flows over whirring production, making sure the world knows they don’t mess around. Directed and animated by Cartuna, the new video for “Don’t Play That” renders Von, 21, and Von’s home neighborhood of O-Block in cartoonish computer animation. The animation adds a whimsical twist to the two artists’ O-Block exploits, ranging from one-night escapades to Hellcat joyrides to high speed police chases.
Caroline Polachek returns with the release of her highly-anticipated new psych-pop single “Billions”. Produced by Danny L Harle and Polachek, the song is a sprawling, kaleidoscopic odyssey that crescendos with a transcendent children’s chorus performed by London’s renowned Trinity Choir. Fans of Polachek will be instantly familiar with the song after it’s frequent appearance in her live performances last year. The New Yorker described “Billions” as “oceanic and potent.” The release is accompanied by a visual co-directed by Polachek and her frequent visual collaborator Matt Copson.
