King Park – This is the End

“This is the End” is a straightforward break-up song, describing the exact moment when everything breaks apart and the person you are becomes forever altered.

A lot of our relationship was a challenge, a rollercoaster. I wish that if I were to go back and have my priorities straight, the fact that we both loved each other would be enough to keep fighting.

Jaah SLT Gets In His Bag with BeatKing for a Bass-Boosted Remix

Jaah SLT’s 2019 single “In My Bag” is currently having a resurgence, buoyed by a TikTok dance trend soundtracked by a slowed version of the song’s audio, which generated over 170k video creations in a matter of weeks. “In My Bag” has been particularly popular in Texas, the birth place of chopped-n-screwed music, and now, Jaah has teamed up with BeatKing for a Texas-friend “In My Bag” remix. The new remix finding the Houston native doing what he does best, keeping Jaah’s charismatic, hard-hitting verses and adding elements like boosted bass and crisp handclaps that turn the track into club banger. “In My Bag” was the second TikTok hit for the North Carolina native, following 2019’s “Tuff” which generated over 250k video creations on the platform and over 23 million streams on Spotify.

Citizen Share New Song “Black and Red”

Toledo-based rock powerhouse Citizen are releasing their upcoming fourth full-length Life In Your Glass World, on March 26th via Run For Cover Records. Today the band are sharing one more early single with the fiery “Black and Red.” For over a decade Citizen have been challenging expectations and on Life In Your Glass World the band once again refuses to be easily defined. Every aspect of the recording was completely on their own terms, with vocalist Mat Kerekes building a studio in his garage where Citizen tracked the entire album. The result is a set of lean, raw songs that represent the most unfiltered version of the band’s daring vision to date.

VREID Premieres New Song + Music Video via Decibel Magazine

VREID comments on the film’s historic location: “The more than 100-year-old sanatorium lies completely isolated in the mountainside above the world’s longest fjord, Sognefjorden. Once built to shield people from infectious diseases and later the asylum of the wild northwest, it became our creative center during the pandemic. With the world closed down, we admitted ourselves to one of Scandinavia’s most mythical and majestic buildings to record the movie. The massive building has been abandoned for almost 30 years, and the harsh climate has taken its toll as the building are being consumed by nature day by day. The history and destinies that these roughed walls embrace are fascinating, vile and dark to say the least. And with Wild North West, we have become a part of this majestic white castle’s history.”

Video Premiere: Vreid – “The Morning Red”

PACKS (slacker rockers signed to Fire Talk) new single

These guys are one of my favorite Toronto bands of the last little while, and they were starting to get quite a bit of buzz going pre-pandemic, playing with folks like Squirrel Flower and Odetta Hartman. With a sound that fits somewhere between the first Pavement record and Harmacy-era Sebadoh, Maddie Link’s laid back vocal delivery sits front and centre, as the band expertly stumble their way through the record, elegantly dishevelled and perfectly discombobulated.

MONOWHALES – ‘Daytona Bleach’ NEW ALBUM OUT NOW

Seems like we are all running around on our hamster wheels at home. As we look around surrounded by fake news and sickness, I sit frozen, feeling catatonic in my body. Yet, my mind can’t stop running. My thoughts race in perpetual anxiety as I wait for life to resume its course.

“He Said/She Said (I Wait)” is about delusionally interpreting and trying to accept what is going on around me while constantly immersed in a dissociative state.

New Royal Mountain & Fire Talk signing PACKS announce debut LP/Share “Silvertongue”

PACKS were an increasingly visible presence in Toronto in the first part of 2020. A string of intriguing lo-fi singles, appearing once every month or so on Bandcamp through 2019 had begun to persuade people to take notice in their hometown, where the band were sharing stages with people like Squirrel Flower and Odetta Hartman, and outside of it. Despite having rarely ventured outside of the city, and having never crossed the border into the US as a band, these early tracks caught the attention of the rising Brooklyn label Fire Talk Records, who have recently introduced celebrated acts like Dehd, Patio, Deeper and Mamalarky. Today, the band are formally announcing their debut LP take the cake, which will be released by Fire Talk in partnership with the Toronto indie Royal Mountain Records (Alvvays, Wild Pink, Mac Demarco) on May 21st.

Produced by PRE’s own Bandplay, who piles thudding bass atop gently plucked guitars, “Poppin It” proves that Kenny Muney has perfected the art of flexing, as he sneers at those who save instead of spend and those who claim that they’re haves when they’re really have-nots. In the video, Kenny Muney gives a glimpse into his high-flying lifestyle, filled with stacks of cash, glamorous jewelry, beautiful women, and sugary bowls of oatmeal. “Poppin It” is Kenny Muney’s first new song of 2021, arriving after a 2020 that brought local hits “FR” (991k views on YouTube) and the fiery “Hot” (646k views).

ZACK COKAS REVEALS VIDEO FOR RECENT SINGLE PHARMACY // WATCH HERE

PHARMACY is my best way of coping with my newfound dependence on prescription medicine for my OCD/anxiety/depression. When Andy Warhol was residing in NYC his creative space was referred to as “the factory.” I relate strongly to Warhol’s artistic struggles and his willingness to open his factory to any creative— regardless of the the size of their following or their nationality. It was all about helping these artists discover self-belief. For the visual concept of PHARMACY, I wanted to merge the factories of Warhol and Willy Wonka, ultimately creating a whimsical dreamscape where children can find easy solutions to their problems with prescription pills. As a kid, Willy Wonka was one of my favorite movies (both the OG and Johnny Depp versions). I always wanted to visit Wonka’s factory and experience the overstimulation that came with all the saturated colors and candies. The truth is, while Warhol’s Pharmacy cannot solve all of one’s problems, it can be the first step in dealing with one’s inner demons. I want to portray Warhol’s Pharmacy to be a one-stop shop where problems can be solved after one prescription… as this is the commonly believed but false narrative surrounding prescription medicine in our culture— especially in the stories told on TV and in film.
