The particularity of things and the sheer marvel that they even exist is very grounding to me. Being present and paying attention to all of that brought me back around.”

Roberts/Personne drew a wealth of praise last year from Paste, Clash, Noisey, The Line of Best Fit, Stereogum, DIY and more for the latest Corridor record, Junior – the band’s third full length but their debut on the esteemed label, Sub Pop. He now returns with his second solo record, Disparitions which draws on a similar wiry post-punk palette. The new single, ‘Terre Des Hommes’ is a personal favourite from Disparitions assimilating the sounds of 60s twelve-string psych, 80s jangle-pop akin to Flying Nun-signed acts, The Go-Betweens, etc and new wave. It further mines what Jonathan has described as “spaghetti western rock”, a genre given to himself that looks at dispirate themes such as loneliness, sparsity and feeling at one with yourself.

Legendary SoCal artists (HED) P.E. have released their new studio album Class of 2020 in stores and across digital music platforms today. The album was released via legendary Californian independent label Suburban Noize Records and debuts on the same weekend that the band celebrates the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough album, Broke.
“I had the title ‘Class of 2020’ as a working title for some time now,” says (HED) P.E. frontman Jared Gomes. “We had made hoodies with the ‘Class of 2020’ on them, but it was originally intended to be a statement about the band being here 20 years later. A whole new Class of (HED) P.E., so to speak. Once the pandemic broke out, this title took on a new profound meaning. The Class of 2020 never really graduated. The Class of 2020 will go down in history for several different reasons.”

“Other People” finds Josh continuing the themes he began to develop on his EP Human Now, released earlier this year: “heartbreak, who am I and where am I going, things falling apart.” He returned home to the Northeast to shoot the video: “The barns next to my grandmother’s house, the lake we grew up on, the old blacksmith shop where my family gathers to sing Hymns on Sunday nights in the summer.” Immersing himself in a place so tied to his background proved ideal. “This feels like the most honest video I’ve made,” he says. “It’s just me, walking through the places that made me who I am.”
