LA-Based Grunge Rockers The Waking Point Release Nirvana Cover via The Deli Magazine
Sadie states, “While working on my EP, I decided to produce my first cover from my favorite band, Nirvana, because Kurt has always helped me with depression in the past. This song is one of the first ever learned to play on guitar, and I wanted to create a cover version that would be harder, spookier, and more psychedelic. Experimenting with new sound and MIDI effects in Logic and combining my guitars with creepy interweaving synths and eerie percussion I formed my own take on Something in the Way, performed and recorded at my home studio in LA. My cousin Zak Belica (Director of Audio at Epic Games) mixed and mastered the track, and in the process breathed new life into it. The vocals jump out of the mix and hit you in face at just the right moments. The song only borders on hard rock and contains some haunting elements such as wolves howling alongside the backing vocals, but also has a dreamy, feverish and even uplifting vibe from the combination of reverb laden drums and the emotional vocal performance.”
DYLYN Shares “Find Myself”; Watch Horror-Inspired Video Here
“After working with Ryan, I thought, ‘This is it. This is finally the stuff I’ve been wanting to write. The 18-year-old me has returned.’ I hadn’t felt that excited in a long time.” Adding, “everyone says just be yourself. It’s the hardest thing to do. A lot of artists are natural pleasers. I struggled with that for a long time: making sure everyone in the room was okay and happy at the cost of my art and my truth. This is the first time where it’s more about the art and less about what other people think, going back to what I enjoyed doing about this in the first place. That’s why I couldn’t sleep after those sessions with Ryan.”

But behind the scenes, musicians are talking: Mike Mills (R.E.M., Baseball Project), with whom she appeared in Big Star’s Third concerts, says she is his “favorite new voice of the last five years.” Single co-producer Dan Wilson (Semisonic, Adele, Katie Perry, Taylor Swift) insists “Millie’s voice is the real-deal, well-oiled music machine. Damn! — I love listening to her sing.” Peter Holsapple (The dB’s, Hootie & the Blowfish), with whom she dueted for Wild Honey’s 2019 Kinks concert in L.A., joins in: “Millie McGuire is a preternaturally talented singer, with grace and poise beyond her years, and her vocal abilities are remarkable.” And Pat Sansone (Wilco, the Autumn Defense) agrees: “Millie has a rare and textured voice that possesses a combination of strength and vulnerability . . . Hitting the 30+ album mark, it would seem inevitable that this Berlin-based Sacramento-raised artist would release a bird-and-suitcase-themed autobiographical double album focused on his hometown. While reviewers always seem to refer to the holy triumvirate of XTC, Julian Cope and Robyn Hitchcock, ‘Manbird’ doesn’t reveal any obvious influence.

It is the truth, honesty and bravery to tackle subjects which society so regularly shirks from addressing which set Millie Manders and the Shutup apart as one of 2020’s most important, talked-about bands.

Cory Marks releases debut album ‘WHO I AM’
“What inspired me to be featured was really Cory’s heart, you could really hear that he was speaking from his truth and you could just feel the pain and the purgatory of whatever was happening to him at the time that inspired him to write that song,” says Hale. “And my favourite part of the whole song is this conversation that Cory and I are having. It’s such a realistic look at love and a couple’s journey together. My favourite part is that you can’t really tell no matter how many times you listen to it. Are they breaking up? Are they getting back together? Are they just weathering the storm? I think you should decide.”

Joséphine gives us her latest single “BabyGirl”
“I took a trip to Israel late last year with a vision to connect with my roots and make art there. I was wandering around Jaffa (South Tel Aviv) one evening and happened across this Hotel – Inta Gay Hotel (yes it is a gay hotel!). I walked in and saw they were doing a live model sketching – this handsome man perched upon a gorgeous deep burgundy chaise lounge, string lights draped around him as guests drew him. Immediately I knew – this was BabyGirl. The entire hotel had this beautiful vintage Art Deco aesthetic that made me feel like I was coming home. The owners Kobi & Ziv are great friends to this day – they saw the vision and had a lot of faith in me. I’m proud to say that with no plan, no money and no connections I was able to fulfill this dream to create art in a place I love, with strangers who became family, showcasing Israeli creatives & highlighting their work.”

Featuring Rumori Style and Design by Israel Valencia, Wolf states “‘Wash Away’ is a song that I wrote while sheltering in place. Like ‘Summon,’ I sent this record over to Rumori(brilliant composer/cellist). Rumori’s breathtaking parts gave this record everything it needed. ‘Wash Away’ explores the experience of becoming pure, being forgiven, washed away of all sins: the understanding that we are all one. The track is paired with a music video that emulates yin and yang energy, the polarity, duality, the symbiotic relationship between the dark and the light, ebb and flow of life , and dropping into all elements.” The video was directed by Kayko Tamaki DP Kylie Hazzard Memento Mori Productions.
PREMIERE: Torii Wolf Collaborates with Cellist Rumori on Hymn-Like Single “Wash Away”
Identical Homes (aka Daniel McKenzie of Built for the Sea, The Rum Diary and Shuteye Unison) crafts his music from the ethers of time, and time likely spent building cabins, trout fishing and wandering in the greater wilds of Northern California’s Humboldt County. Envision the dusty sounds of Boards of Canada and catchiness of Tycho mixed with samples from some obscure movie and a half working CB radio from a decaying Rum Diary tour van and you’ll have a pretty good idea of where Identical Homes is coming from. Collaborators include some very talented friends and musicians whose contributions allow the songs to travel through genres, but always return to a familiar ambience. Give this music patience and in return you will find a soundtrack for daydreaming.

VICTORIA MONÉT RELEASES NEW PROJECT JAGUAR
Monét explains the name of her newest project, “When creating my music, “Jaguar” was the first song I did for this project. It laid the foundation for my 70s inspired psychedelic feel. I loved experimenting with soulful, nostalgic live instrumentation and the juxtaposition of my soft and lyrically experimental vocals. I created my own jungle through sound. Like the Jaguar, I feel that I as an artist have been around for a long time, but just camouflaged until it was the right time to pounce. I’ve trained behind the leaves in the dark, I’ve been through the mud and paid my dues many ways. I’ve rediscovered myself through honesty and freedom. Everything comes to the light when it’s supposed to, and this is my music’s arrival. Although it has been a long time coming, this is just the beginning. Enjoy JAGUAR!”
SIMA Releases Acoustic Version of Single “Runaways”
“I decided to create an acoustic, stripped-down version of ‘Runaways’ because I wanted to truly focus on the inspiring and empowering lyrics and allow the message of the song to penetrate people’s hearts,” shares SIMA. “I knew that ‘Runaways’ is a great song and can stand on its own with only piano and vocals. I want listeners to hear and feel me, my heart and my soul, without any distractions. ‘Runaways’ is a powerful song that you can’t miss or ignore, and I think with this raw version, it leaves you without any doubts. I hope with this version you will feel inspired, empowered, elevated, and also connected to something bigger, something that you can reflect on, relate to and draw strength from.”
