<PIG> Premieres “Mobocracy” video

“‘MOBOCRACY’ is rule by the mob,” says Raymond Watts, mastermind behind post-punk stalwarts <PIG> about the meaning behind the title of his latest single and EP. “The song decries the meltdown of morality and the rise of mobocracy, which is fueled and whipped up by the poison that pours from the perma-tanned reality stars running the asylum, who cheer and steer the frenzy of bitterness, bile and hatred that is in turn fed by their own fear.” Biting and politically on-point, “Mobocracy” returns the hard-edged, serrated industrial edge to <PIG>’s sound, following the experimental and critically-hailed covers album CANDY.

Emily Breeze wields axe in American Psycho inspired video for ‘Work’

The third single from forthcoming Emily Breeze album Rituals (Out September 6th) is a shimmering indie pop anthem entitled “Work”. The glossy sonic exterior and radio friendly chorus act as a foil for the ice cold cynicism and pitch black humour of the lyrics which were inspired by Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) and Emily’s own experiences of hauling herself out of bed every morning to make a pointless profit for somebody else.

Black Beach – ‘Tapeworm’ LP

Tapeworm is an album about being a human in the 21st century. The songs touch on many different topics such as climate change, capitalism, nostalgia and the echo chamber in which the internet allows us to exist, though the overarching theme of the record is the anxiety of living in our current political and social climate. The album takes a conscious step away from previous releases which relied heavily on fuzzed out overdubbed guitars and reverb and delay drenched vocals. Tapeworm instead focuses on capturing a very natural, barebones depiction of the music, relying more on dynamics and room sound to create a spacious atmosphere rather than effects units. Tapeworm was recorded over the course of a weekend with Justin Pizzoferrato (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Speedy Ortiz) at Sonelab Studios, and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering.
