ORNAMENT AND CRIME (Poolside & Grizfolk) Share Debut EP
LA-based duo ORNAMENT AND CRIME are excited to share their debut EP, Another Night On The Astral Plane. The duo, comprised of Poolside producer Alex Kemp and Grizfolk drummer Bill Delia, craft a sound that stretches both genre and sonic structure to create music that imbues a kind of dystopian sensuality. It is an expertly crafted collage of their various abilities and influences. There’s no doubt that time and place seeped in as well. Bill mentions the location of Alex’s Venice Beach studio, saying that although the music, “is not exactly beachy or sunny, that definitely played a part in crafting the sound and vision of the songs.” Instead, the EP is like experiencing the ocean by night, with Bill’s drumming providing the undercurrent that tows the listener along.

Sarah Jaffe Joins Generationals on “Tryin’ to Reach Ya” | On Tour Now w/ TORRES
Generationals made me a forever fan while I supported them on tour in 2019. They were not only so much fun to watch play every night, but just super cool and super kind. I was really craving writing and production opportunities with other artists, so I was thrilled when Ted and Grant reached out to me about making music together. I’m so proud of “Trying to Reach Ya” and so grateful that I got to be apart. – Sarah Jaffe

Hard rockers OLD MAN WIZARD have released their song “Parasite” over at The Obelisk. The track is taken from their upcoming album Kill Your Servants which will be released on November 5 2021.
Frontman Francis Roberts comments:
“I love Carly Simon. “You’re So Vain” isn’t even close to my favorite song of hers (“Nobody Does It Better” wins that prize), but the premise behind the song is genius; It’s essentially a diss track that doesn’t give its target the validation of having a song written for them. I started writing “Parasite” more than ten years ago and stopped because I didn’t feel like the person I was writing it about deserved a song, and reading that story about Carly Simon inspired me to redo it without making it about anyone in particular.
Musically, we ended up doing going for sort of a surf-punk vibe. I think this song was the hardest to get a good take on; That instrumental break is really hard, and it’s one of the songs we hadn’t tested out at a show before recording, so we had less practice on it. If you like it, send it to someone you hate!”

SAYA ANNOUNCES NEW EP
Toronto’s resident alternative popstar Saya returns with single “SICK,” her first musical output since 2018. “SICK,” the first single off of her upcoming EP READY TO BURN, is a pulsing, immersive, and sultry dark dancefloor anthem. Layered over infectious beats and pristine electro-pop production, Saya’s lyrics explore the emotions of frustration, vulnerability, pain, and desire. “SICK” tells a story of an intoxicating yet chaotic romance: the verses are intimate and fragile, as she express hurt that builds up into the hook that feels like a burst of frustration and anger.
