Berlin-based Welsh singer-songwriter Jennifer Juliette is celebrating the release of her new single, the alluringly melancholic “I’ll Be” (7/15). The classically trained musician who has honed her multi-faceted skills performing in prestigious venues around the world, has channeled her artistry into a series of poignant folk pop songs that will be released this summer in her debut EP Anchor. The follow up to her first single “Small Voice”—a highly personal song about her miscarriage— “I’ll Be” takes the point of view of a friend who lives for the nightlife to her detriment. Juliette ’arrangements are deceptively simple, yet provide a striking backdrop to her songs that dive deep into serious and emotional topics such as motherhood and mental health. “I’ll Be” was written by Juliette and produced by Arthur Pingrey (Sia, Norah Jones).

If we were only to focus on Harley Cortez’s forthcoming second chapter in his four-album “An Inventory of Memory” recording series, it would be like having a phone conversation with someone with spotty cell service that allows you to hear every fourth word. Set to release “An Inventory of Memory: Vol. II” on August 13, Cortez’s examination of genetic memory has been the muse of his multidisciplinary art for several years, but this musical exploration delves deeply into loss and how to process it after the passing of his mother and nephew with the goal of turning loss into beauty.

Evan Wright (ffo Jacco Gardner, Cory Hanson, Kurt Vile) | Shares new single / Album August 25
This body of work comes entirely mixed, produced and recorded by the California-born, New Jersey-raised, now New York-based Evan, partially in his apartment before he had to decamp to his parents’ place in NJ due to Covid (which is where he ultimately completed it). It’s a lovely fusion of country-folk-tinged psychedelia which holds some comparisons with the likes of Andy Shauf and Cut Worms, but also with the slightly more psych-indie shades of Kurt Vile, Jacco Gardner and Cory Hanson.
