BEGGING FOR THE TIDE
I had trailed off into writing about a girl that I liked. I described her as a warm wave of ocean water and that took me back to visiting Hilton Head Island with my family as a kid. My dad would take my brothers and me to the beach in the evening when the waves would be really big and we would get decked trying to boogie board into them. The bigger the waves, the better.
The Narcotix shares new single, “Lilith” from forthcoming debut EP, Mommy Issues
“”Lilith” was created in a tantric temple in Oakland, CA. She was also Adam’s wife before Eve, made from the clay whence Adam came instead of his rib. But that’s another story. Birthing her was our very own form of ritual. Bumbling Becky found the catchy keyboard riff (or perhaps it found her), and Esther swung her voice in a swirly pattern to match the surrounding smoke. Thus the zygote known as “Lilith” was formed.”

THE GRASSHOPPER LIES HEAVY: San Antonio Post Hardcore Trio To Release A Cult That Worships A God Of Death Full-Length July 16th Via Learning Curve Records
A Cult That Worships A God Of Death weaves post-hardcore, noise rock, and metal, mixed with a heroic dose of dark post-rock into a distinctly singular sonic tapestry. Boasting eight tracks, the record comes across like a two-headed beast, its first half, a scorching, riff-filled goliath that stomps and chugs with the fury of a cornered bull, while side-B bares the more prone side of the animal, with longer, more intricate, and introverted songwriting that allows its ideas to ruminate and evolve. Recorded during the 2020 lockdown, it’s a record that captures the chaos and tribulations of a year gone bad.

Along with original bassist and frequent collaborator Joe Harrison, these sessions proved to be Holy Hive’s foundation. And their debut album, 2020’s Float Back to You, expertly combined what each musician does best: Paul’s heady, reflective approach to folk with Homer’s universal classic soul sound.
