Nick Flessa Shares Music Video for “The Investors”, New EP ‘Hey Partner’ Out Now
Today, LA-based experimental indie artist Nick Flessa shares a new music video for his single “The Investors,” receiving glowing praise form Indie88, Northern Transmissions, and Glide. The song is from Flessa’s 2020 country-disco-karaoke romp Hey Partner (Different Pep) and the video is animated and directed by Rasterbahn. In their first collaboration, the duo teams up to spin a “guillotine karaoke” diabolical capitalist fantasy. It’s a cathartic mix of voluptuous narrative animation, dialectical stock footage, and singalong moments with revolutionary overtones.
Shannon says of “Rare to Wake”: “Change is a constant in every aspect of our experience yet sometimes it is difficult to accept. Without change we cannot become who we are meant to be and with change comes the upheaval and transformation of who we were. There is an inevitable discomfort that comes with challenging the environments, roles and identities we embody throughout our lives. Trust that part of yourself that knows you’re on the right track, even when it’s challenging. That trust and love helps to guide and reassure us as we explore new realms.

This is one of my personal favorites off the album, and it feels amazing to know that the album and all the fury we put into it will finally reach wider audiences!”

Carly Lind is a pop artist and songwriter based in Los Angeles. She just released her first single of 2021 called “Crying in Public”. The song features pop and rock based elements with Carly’s silky tone. She wrote this ballad about the grief she has dealt with after losing her mom. If you aren’t familiar with Carly’s story, she lost both of her parents in a very short time frame and both were unexpected. This has left her with music being the only way she has been able to heal and try to move forward with her life without parents. “I wrote this song with my good friend Brittney Spencer. We were both roommates on The Voice 13 and I remember sharing how I had lost my mom right before the show. I’d feel a wave of grief in the most random places and I finally came to accept that this would be something I had to embrace going forward. Then one day Brittney called me and said she wrote a chorus for me and I finished the song shortly after” explains Carly. She hopes people can relate to the song and that it will help them heal as well.

Introducing: The Pleasure Dome | Hear the biting new single “Pretty Picture”
Bristol punks The Pleasure Dome are back today with scathing new single, “Pretty Picture”. Somewhat at odds with its title, it paints an ugly scene of narcissism as currency, presented in a world where pride has become interchangeable with vanity. Through three short minutes the four-piece channel a raw and direct energy, in which “Pretty Picture” not only screams their distrust of social media’s curated lifestyles, but also begs for self-reflection as a way to break the harmful cycles it can be all too easy to fall into. It is part bitter rebuke, part message of self-love.
