Metallic Hardcore Collective MATRIARCHS Issues Animated Video for Updated Version “Deadman”

“‘Deadman’ is a song about the struggles of the working class and the tools the 1% use to influence our decision making and priorities and liberating ourselves from that,” Levi says. “I think the themes are even more relevant today, given our dependence and blind trust in technology, which we are dependent on for our everyday activities and our primary source of information. As a society, we are as divided now as ever before, even with technology and social media being marketed as tools that bring us closer together. This song is about rebelling against all masters, gurus and self-proclaimed distributors of truth to learning to trust our own intuition and judgement. It’s also an extremely fun and heavy song and we wanted to do something different and special with the visuals.”

We lost our abilities to release and to connect with all of our friends and family. We miss the spark; we miss the conversations; and most of all, we miss each and every one of you.

Austin’s Lady Dan (ffo: Mattiel, Julia Jacklin, Katy Kirby) | Shares new single – album out April 23

As a full piece, I Am the Prophet dives into some deeply personal content for Dozier, in a sense tackling lots of the pressure and symbols of authority that she has come up against in her life. Initially hailing from Dothan, Alabama, Tyler grew up in a strictly religious environment, moving to Birmingham, Alabama in her teens to attend a ministry school which was when she began to question the role of the Church in her life. It was an amalgamation of the Church and a controlling relationship that birthed the crux of I Am the Prophet – a celebration of sorts about ridding the patriarchal restraints that refused her growth, as well as being a frustrated kick at those who’ve always said she couldn’t in life. Each track poses a new narrative, arriving as multilayered existential quandaries of empowerment and restriction, of life and death, or of faith and its absence.
