DC The Don Unleashes His Inner Rock Star with “Wait Your Turn”
A multifaceted talent who can craft soaring melodies as well as fast-paced rhymes, DC The Don uses his music to stress the importance of always being yourself. Indulging his inner rock star, DC The Don shares “Wait Your Turn,” his latest single. Built around a ferocious guitar riff that would feel at home on a Blink 182 album, “Wait Your Turn” wears DC’s emo and alt-rock influences on his sleeves, as he forgoes his lightning quick rhymes in favor of emotional wails. The song mixes the guitar riff with a swinging trap-adjacent instrumental, as DC The Don works through relationship woes with a woman who is moving too fast for his liking: “Baby it’s no rush, you gotta wait your turn, yeah/Baby when you cut it burns ya/Where you at, I’m still concerned, yeah/I’m goin’ back I guess I never learn, yeah.” Produced by Trademark, “Wait Your Turn” proves that DC makes as convincing a rock star as he does a rap star.
Emily James Debuts Sunny New Video for BACK IN THE SUMMER
Emily James began her musical journey growing up just north of New York City in a household where she remembers records – by Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder to musicals and folk music – always playing. The youngest of five kids, she would set up her karaoke machine in the kitchen and perform for her family. “I took it very seriously,” she recalls with a laugh. She began taking piano lessons when she was five years old, and later added voice and guitar lessons. By the time she was ten, she was writing her own songs.
Palberta (prev. supports for Bikini Kill, Wharf Cat Records-signed) | Share new single “Corner Stone”
Although new to the UK, Palberta have developed a combination of a really devoted cult audience and critical acclaim over the last few years stateside, earning comparisons to some of the legends of left-field music like Captain Beefheart (Rolling Stone), ESG (Pitchfork), CAN and Yoko Ono (FADER), and Pitchfork called their last LP, 2018’s Roach Going Down “a leap to another level…[that] suggests even higher peaks to come.” Their new LP, which is called Palberta5000 (out Jan 22nd, 2021 on Wharf Cat), really delivers on the promise that their last album’s direction implied, upping the production and reconciling their sound with more traditional pop forms while sacrificing absolutely none of the Palberta-ness that has endeared them to people over their catalog to date. The band opened for Bikini Kill on some of their US dates last year and were supposed to tour the UK and Europe for the first time earlier this year before COVID hit.

Young Dolph & Key Glock Reunite for Stylish “No Sense” Video
Few rap duos have the charisma and chemistry of Young Dolph and Key Glock. Today, the two Paper Route EMPIRE rappers reunite for “No Sense,” a colorful new music video. Re-kindling the connection that powered their Billboard Top 10-peaking joint album Dum & Dummer, Dolph and Glock dive headfirst into a beat by Supah Mario & Cassius Jay, rhyming about their ever-growing bankrolls and their unassailable street reputations: “Everybody know that he a big sh*t popper/Smokin’ ice cream, rollin’ on some peach cobbler,” spits Dolph. In the video, D&G defy the feds by retreating to a colorful soundstage where they luxuriate amidst a few of their favorite things: bands of cash, camo-wrapped sports cars, and more. “No Sense” is the latest video from Rich Slave, Dolph’s deeply personal and highly successful new album, following the searing political statement of “The Land” (1.7 million views).
Earlier today, Missouri-based four-piece Prismatics announced “Every Smiling Thing,” the second single from their upcoming EP Endlessly, with a premiere on The Big Takeover.
“Lead single ‘Outside Looking’ charged out of the gate as an all-too-relevant post-punk anthem about craving escapism after a period of isolation; now “Every Smiling Thing” takes the band’s ability to write effortless dream pop and looks into the everyday supernatural,” The Big Takeover writes.
Recorded at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Prismatics was forced to individually record from each members’ living space in the weeks following stay-at-home orders, although it’s hard to discern any disconnection in their motorik rhythm section or the synthesizing of new wave greats. For “Every Smiling Thing” though, the band looked beyond the painful realities of 2020, delving into the unexplainable and potentially magic moments of life.

The house music duo, powered by the pairing of plumpy and Tres Mortimer, were first introduced to the world by way of a piano-led jam called PJ at the Rotate Vol 3 compilation. Boondox Teams Up With Hard Rock Heavyweights Saving Abel On New Single “K7-Lethal”
“It was really cool to team up with Saving Abel for this song. They really added an edge to it, and made this track special,” said Boondox about the collaboration. “The song itself is very loosely based on the character Spawn, mainly K7-Leetha, the neural parasite that is attached to Spawn. If I could be anyone out of a comic book, it’d probably be Spawn. He basically destroyed heaven and hell. Now that’s power! Well, I thought about what I would do with that power, and started writing. It eventually turned into something a little different, but that influence was still there.”

Stoned and Alone is really a celebration of weed’s true magic on a deeper, more personal or spiritual level. Many of us truly use and need weed for our mental resilience, and that is where the power of this song comes from.” – Daemon Grey
