Folk-Rock Duo Sally & George Make Sense Of It All With New Full-Length Take You On A Ride
In true Sally & George fashion, the Nashville-based folk-rock duo had already set out on an international tour when the world shut down in March. Also known as upright bassist Shelby Means, a former member of GRAMMY-nominated bluegrass band Della Mae and guitarist Joel Timmons of Charleston, South Carolina’s roots-rock outfit Sol Driven Train, Sally & George spent a month quarantining at their last-for-now tour stop on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands before heading back to Nashville, moving out of their apartment and loading up their touring van to live in full-time, waiting to weather the storm. On October 30th, fans will be able to hear what they’ve been working on in the meantime; a brand new full-length album aptly titled Take You On A Ride.
“‘Heavy Is The Head’ is a song that deals with people that think they are top dog,” explains guitarist Artie Alexander. “The narcissistic idea that they can do whatever or say whatever they want about people without receiving any backlash. Be careful what you say about people, especially people that haven’t done anyone wrong but know about all the horrible things you have said and done.”

Artist: Redlyte – Track: Hold on My People
Over a melodic, mid-tempo riddim accented by a thick and lumbering bassline, heavy drums and off-beat staccato guitar riffs, he provides much-needed strength and rays of hope. Alex Julia, a New Jersey based singer-songwriter, is set for her debut EP release ‘Better Part of Me’ on 09/19/20. At other points in the EP, the artist dives into more expansive rock melodies with producer JEAN. Songs like “It’s Coming” and “What’s Going On” offer up a harder, grungier style, while the singles “Counting Stars” and “Better Part of Me” are influenced by 80s driven pop beats and 90s alternative rock, respectively. More modern pop influences are layered with funky guitar riffs in “A Beautiful Escape.”

The anthropologist Franz Boas made a somewhat spurious claim in 1911 that some Inuit-Yupik-Unangan languages had hundreds of different words for snow, perhaps playing into dated cliche and xenophobia. However, it’s not wrong to say that there are quite a few Scottish words for rain in its many forms – and some of these are used as song titles on the self-titled debut album from Scottish harpist Adenine.
Adenine, which is out everywhere today, was made by composer, harpist, vocalist and sound recorder Ailie Robertson under the name Adenine and is a record about nature and our place in the landscape. The song titles – Smirr, Spindrift, Flindrikin, Aftak and Haar – all refer to types of rain – from light drizzle, to sea spray to a coastal mist – but they also represent the erosion of nature and the gradual disappearance of language connected to nature, supplanted by the next word of the year in the OED.

The Toxic Avenger “Lies” Official Video Out today
A staggering, conceptual sonic journey, the ten-track Nostrum unweaves a collection of ciphers, gathering a disparate cast of musicians to urge you to cross the threshold of shadows into the ether. The album entices its listeners to traverse skeletal voids into a world that wails, filled with the seismic shudders of voices that were never meant to be known. These are exotic surroundings, from serene, disembodied soundscape to a vicious percussive maelstrom, from stagnant shadowy waters to the harsh judgment of breathing stone… but they may feel hauntingly familiar to a select few.
