On Lamentations frontman BJ Barham skillfully dissects the Southern experience while offering empathy as the lights continue to dim. Although written earlier, Lamentations feels eerily current, as “A Better South” implores his Southern community to do better. He sings “Proud of who I am and where I’m from, But I ain’t so proud of how far we’ve come.” With monuments falling and consciousness raising, the song and album are so relevant, especially right now.

I went over to scope out the lab and Tony said ‘Hey, I could put you in this pit. That would be really creepy!’ It was a great day of playing around and feeling creative in a time when everything felt horrific and uncertain.” Daughter–her first album in four years–marks the triumphant return of Loveless and documents her self-aware journey into independence.

“‘lmho’ was written around the time come out. you’re hiding was completed. Most of my lyrics try to look at the bright side, but this song had no barriers. I was simply spilling my sadness, confusion, and heartache into our music,” shared flor frontman Zach Grace. “There are points in our lives where we feel completely out-of-control and stuck, and I did my best to be honest with myself and write exactly how I was feeling. “The ‘Beatrice’ video was unique to do because we were actually playing our instruments. In most music videos you’re meant to only pretend like you’re playing but Ryan was really keen on making the performance feel genuine- and after being apart for so long due to COVID we were stoked to be able to just hang out together and jam for a few hours. Having our gear plugged in for hours made the mirror room extremely hot and by the last take we were sweaty and tired and a little buzzed- so basically, we got our tour fix despite the looming pandemic outside the studio,” notes frontwoman Katie Munshaw.

East London native Chinwe is a singer-songwriter and producer who sights Nina Simone and Portishead amongst some of her biggest influences.
