THE ORACLE: Cvlt Nation Premieres New Video From Avant Electronics Project
Inspired at once by the grandiosity of film scores and classical music, the bleakness of black metal, and minimalist ambient music, Hypogeum is dark and at times ritualistic with its themes and complimentary visuals touching upon the rise, betrayal, and ultimate fall of messiah-like figures and cult leaders. The video for “An Ascension” serves as the third of a six-part video series that will ultimately culminate into one short film bridging together the record’s mysterious theme.

Brun explains the song was inspired by the voice of her 18-year-old self she found on an old cassette tape. “Her energy struck me and I was filled with love for this young, and in many ways innocent, version of myself—this girl talking non-stop in a boundless flow of words and emotions.”
CORY MARKS – ‘WHO I AM’
Mixing the twang of country music with the hard-hitting stomp of rock & roll, Cory Marks makes his debut with WHO I AM.
Full of autobiographical storytelling, guitar-driven anthems, drinking songs, and breakup ballads, WHO I AM is rooted in the influence of Cory’s hometown, where he grew up surrounded by the salt-of-the-earth residents of North Bay, Ontario. It was there where he began playing drums at ten years old. Whenever he wasn’t banging along to songs by Deep Purple, Ozzy Osbourne, and Rush, he was listening to his parents’ country records, developing a deep appreciation for outlaws like Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. Those two genres — classic country and amped-up rock — would eventually join forces in Marks’ own music, earning him a string of gigs with heavyweights like Toby Keith and Brantley Gilbert along the way.

Naked Giants To Release “The Shadow” August 21st
Naked Giants are set to release The Shadow on August 21st, 2020 via New West Records. The 11-song set was produced by Chris Funk of the Decemberists and follows the Seattle, WA-based trio’s Green Fuzz EP (2019) and debut album SLUFF (2018). Steadily building up their reputation as a tremendous live act, Naked Giants were named Seattle’s best live band by The Seattle Times at the end of 2018 and Rolling Stone named the band one of the “30 Best Artists We Saw” during SXSW that year as well. The trio spent most of the past two years pulling double duty as both members of the Car Seat Headrest live band and also supporting each Car Seat Headrest performance with their own set as Naked Giants as well.

Not long out of their teens and having cut their teeth in some of the best bands ever, they continued to write and hit after hit. The lineup changed as the Dag Nasty sound developed, they carried on being absolute leaders, not followers. I could honestly still listen to Wig Out at Denko’s or Field Day every day and not get bored. So when two of the driving forces behind those recordings announced they had some new material about to drop damn, right I was excited.

Singer Marcio Markkx has just released (on July 2) the new song “Out of This Loneliness” on digital platforms and on YouTube. The song is a pre-release for the EP “Inside My Skin”, which is composed of three authorial songs that move between rock and soul “Storms”, “Voices in My Head” and “I Wanna Know.” Expected to be released in August 2020, the EP (extended play), which is totally pop, started to be produced in October 2019. Filmed by Dan Streit (Charli XCX, Young Thug, Diplo), “Rope Swing” takes place in Zack’s native Louisiana. Both he and Dijon embark on various antics from boating in a bayou to taking turns on the titular swing. Just like the song, it’s lighthearted and comical, an artistic examination of the anticipation before the plunge.
