New Lianne La Havas Song, “Can’t Fight,” Available Today
La Havas explains of “Can’t Fight,” which was co-written and produced by Mura Masa: “‘Can’t Fight’ is that feeling of, you know it’s not good, but you can’t you can’t not do it. People say if you’re having a hard time in a relationship, just leave. It’s so easy to say, but it’s so much more complicated than that. Because there’s two of you, and neither of you are perfect. And there are things that you’re learning along the way. So you think, ‘Well, let me do a little bit of work and just see if we can get that feeling back—it’s possible because we do really love each other.’ So I guess at the time, I was convinced that yes, it’s hard, but we can get through this.

King Von Throws a Party at O-Block in the New Video for “Broke Opps”
Few rappers in any city can spit aggressive, streetwise rhymes like Chicago’s King Von. Hosting a party to celebrate his enemy’s financial misfortune, Von shares the CrownSoHeavy-directed video for “Broke Opps.” Produced by Von’s frequent behind-the-boards associate Chopsquad DJ, “Broke Opps” is a demonic drill score-settler, the Only The Family rapper taking aim at haters who can’t compete with his shine: “F*ck that, let’s talk about Louis, Amiri, and Gucci and Prada and sh*t/When I go to the store, they closing’ the door and they bringing’ me bottles and sh*t.” In the video, Von hosts a soiree in his native O-Block, donning a bejeweled face mask and a designer parka as he flashes his cash at the camera. “Broke Opps” is the latest video from LeVon James, Von’s acclaimed new album.

Taken off the band’s 2018 EP, Why Did You Do It?, the clip dives deeper into the story of their three concept characters – manic-depressive high school student Jamie, Morgan the bully, and love interest Casey – as they sift through the throes of Lemon House High. Directed and filmed by The Contortionist vocalist Michael Lessard, the video marks the last chapter of Why Did You Do It?, but it is not the last fans will see of the story of Lemon House High. The band are currently working on their debut full-length album, which will follow Jamie and the others through a new perspective, set for release on Equal Vision Records.

IDLES return with video for new single “Mr. Motivator”
Today, IDLES have returned with a new track – “Mr. Motivator” – a battering ram of positivity that’s also the first preview of their highly anticipated third LP due out later this year. The song doubles down on the (self-admitted) sloganeering and social commentary that’s become the band’s signature, yet here more than ever they’re able to take clichés and turn them into music that’s deeply complex and brutally relevant. Listen/watch the accompanying self-directed music video, which features fan-sourced exercise footage and the band members themselves.

Iqaluit’s The Jerry Cans drop new focus track + album called “Echoes”
Iqaluit’s The Jerry Cans have always been, and will always be, a band from and for the north. But on Echoes, the JUNO Award-nominated group’s upcoming fourth full-length record, they’re not the band they used to be. The record arrives with a wash of glassy, slashing electric guitars, thundering drums, effects-warped throat singing, and darkened violin work. These are sounds of love, anxiety, desperation, and grief, and the tangled relationships between these things. It is intense and heavy, a charred, deep-blue Arctic indie rock soundscape.
“Baby Teeth” is symbolic of change and growth in life,” shares frontman James Mason on the track. “We’re all along a certain path and all have relics from our past. These are little reminders of where we come from and where we’re headed. I find great personal joy sharing and exploring these stories in our music.”
