Caroline Blind Shares New Single “First”

Sunshine Blind and The Wake have known each other since the early 90’s, when they were often booked to play shows together. Sunshine Blind would put The Wake up at their house when The Wake came to the New York area, and Sunshine Blinds’ bassist JT Murphy later played with The Wake for a short spell. After Sunshine Blind moved to San Francisco and both bands became less active, they fell out of touch for a while, but the distance and the years all fell away when Caroline and Rich got in touch again, and decided to try writing some songs together back in 2017. Trading files electronically over 2000 miles, they quickly wrote two songs, and realized that it was a great fit. They worked on cover songs, acoustic songs, and experimented with different sounds, keys, and instruments.

Horse Lords Debut Single & Video For “People’s Park” via The Quietus

The song title comes from a public park established by the Young Lords, a Latinx liberation organization. It was built both as a community-run community space and as a bulwark against development on a vacant tract of land in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, which at the time had a large Puerto Rican population who correctly feared they were being pushed out. A modest utopian project compared to some of the other points on the album’s titles’ map of socialist modernisms but an inspiring assertion of the public’s right to occupy public space.

Sour Widows Premieres “Open Wide” via POST-TRASH

Sour Widows are a bedroom rock group from the Bay Area, formed in 2018 by longtime friends Maia Sinaiko, Susanna Thomson and Max Edelman, and recently joined by Sam Edelman on bass. Songs marked by driving harmonies address themes of relationship and reflection; layers of warmth, grit, and depth surface and fade in their two guitar dynamic. Carried by Edelman’s inimitable drumming, the four draw from influences including Big Thief, Duster, Pile and Forth Wanderers to create heavy harmonic alternative rock. The term ‘bedroom rock’ is a nod to this intimacy – it could mean sleepy, dreamy, or weepy – as it captures the emotion behind the music. Post-Trash calls their debut single ‘Tommy’ “a perfect synthesis of slacker pop and punk’s tamer edges,” and asserts the band “is slated to blow up the indie scene.”

As the lovers’ search to find each other grows more urgent, the track revels in tension, an urgency crossed with an insistently slow lament.”

Hello Halo To Release New Single “Our Tomorrow Is You” March 6

New York alternative rock band HELLO HALO is preparing to release their debut album Maybe This Can’t Wait on April 24, but before that they’ll drop a new single, “Our Tomorrow Is You,” on Friday, March 6.

“I wanted to convey a simple yet underserved concept: actions speak louder than words,” explains vocalist Paul Nathaniel. “Our hope as musicians is to speak to a deeper aspect of human nature. You meet plenty of dreamers…people on a quest to make their lives matter. And every music group counts themselves among those dreamers. But too often those deep desires go undefined and unfulfilled. It becomes a game of chasing fame over substance.

Spinning Coin Share “Get High” + New Video

“Get High is about the absurdity of life, and the contradictions we often make. When I notice how different I feel from moment to moment and realize I don’t really know what I’m doing, I might be constantly looking for amusement and contentment, but what could provide that keeps changing. Not realizing the good feeling till it’s gone, or enjoying something in the moment then regretting it later. Trying to act on instinct and intuition but being unable to trust it. Being high is different for everyone but we all try to get high!”
