As teens, members of alt-rock band Alistair played together in a myriad of configurations, exploring a variety of genres. It would be processing heartbreak that focused the guys, and galvanized the Phoenix, Arizona-based quintet into forging a signature, urgently-emotive sensibility that fuses 1980s new wave and 1990s alt-rock with a sleek modern rock sensibility. Today, the quintet releases its aptly-titled debut, Love and Other Human Vices, featuring the single, Chasing New Lows.

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF SUICIDOLOGY RESPONDS TO 2018 CDC DATA RELEASE
“As the rate of suicide continues to climb in this country, year over year, it is necessary to focus on the few effective suicide prevention strategies we’re aware of,” said Jonathan Singer, President of the American Association of Suicidology (AAS). “We’re at a tipping point, where we understand some fundamental, effective prevention methods, but must develop population-level implementation. This includes the potential of implementing non-traditional, alternative methods of intervention like community-based strategies that expand the scope of suicide prevention beyond mental health responses.”
There is only speculation as to why suicide rates are rising in the US. It remains important for the media, suicide prevention, and mental health organizations to communicate to the public that any single explanation for why individuals attempt or die by suicide is insufficient. In fact, it could be detrimental to imply that we can explain its causes without direct scientific evidence to support such claims. Conversely, this means that no single approach to solving the problem of suicide is sufficient, but rather a multidisciplinary, multi-sector strategy is necessary.
Emerging singer-songwriter Trevor Knight is a recording artist, pianist and singer-songwriter hailing from the dirt roads of Minnesota. Influenced by soul-pop and great hooks, Trevor writes meaningful ballads on his piano to inspire others through his lyrics. His sound was developed while being apart of an a cappella group at Dartmouth College. Once placing as a finalist in the “Dartmouth Idol” competition, he started envisioning a career in music and moved to NYC shortly after college. Throughout the process of crafting and recording his debut single “Giving It Up,” Trevor got a glimpse of what a life in music could be like–and he was hooked. The song touches on Trevor’s life growing up being surrounded around an athletic baseball loving household and not making the team. Putting this into life lessons this taught Trevor to never give up in life and to fight the odds against him. He hope to inspire others through his lyrics and thanks his dad for always being his number one fan throughout life.
