Norwegian garage rocker Mats Wawa releasing energetic ode to being starstruck
“Their sound is hard to classify, monster riffs and several quirky pop melodies… an insight what Mac DeMarco would sound like if trapped in the ’70s.” NME
Bursting with energy and excitement, the young musician was booked on reputable festival bills off the back of a handful of bedroom demos back in 2015. Mats Wawa’s sound has since matured with influences coming from Elton John’s Tumbleweed Connection, Laura Nyro, Lee Hazlewood, The Byrds and Jessica Pratt.

To best describe his sound, think 80s synths akin to New Order combined with the chameleonic hip-hop of Kevin Abstract.
KID BE KID – ‘Monument’
“Monument” is full of allusions and details from recent times, but also colored by the adventures of recent years. Just as the first part of the song changes into the second part, the perception of the very same situation also changes permanently. Chaos and order. A new beginning and farewell.
Monument is the first single of the upcoming 12″ Vinyl: Lovely Genders EP.

OUT TODAY for Skope: Italian bedroom pop artist BIRTHH’s new single “Yello/Concrete”
“Yello/Concrete” was written while BIRTHH sat alone in a windowless room on a scorching hot day in Los Angeles. Her plan for the day was simple: quickly write a beat for a rapper she’d met in Chicago and then head to the beach for the day. Fate, however, had its own ideas. “I rolled a couple of joints and made two different beats. I panned one on the left and one on the right, and against all odds it sounded surprisingly nice and organic,” she recalls. Gradually the song took shape, with bass, backing vocals and nuanced details added to the growing production. “When I was done I went out to buy some water and realised it was midnight. I’d worked on the song for fourteen hours non-stop. I’m not sure how that happened, but I’m glad it did.”
