Dublin Duo Hare Squead Connect with Jay Prince for an Introspective New Single
Bringing an unpredictable energy and deep tunefulness, Irish hip-hop group Hare Squead don’t sound like anything on either side of the Atlantic. Delivering a laid-back jam about staying grounded, Hare Squead shares “Meeting With Myself,” their new single. Defined by syncopated organ swells and jittering hi-hats, the new song highlights the complementary talents of the Hare Squead duo, as Tony Konstone smoothly sings a humble chorus and Lilo Blues brings a distorted auto-tune for his rapidfire verse. Rounded out by a verse from Soulection affiliate Jay Prince, “Meeting With Myself” finds the three emcees stress the importance of trusting your own instincts over the fickle opinions of hangers-on: sings Tony Konstone, “Sometimes you gotta deep that shit yourself/When you got no one to come and tell you yeh yeh/That’s why I try keeping to myself dawg/Ain’t no one fuck with you like yourself yeh yeh yeh.”
Sick Projects/ Interscope Records is pleased to announce the release of R&B artist, Jayla Darden’s debut project, Onto Something. The seven-song EP not only showcases the 21-year old fresh-faced beauty’s remarkable talent as a singer-songwriter, but also her ability to produce, mix and even engineer her own music in the recording studio.
“Prolific Alaskan artist, Paul Jacks has been a stalwart of authentic 80s synth-pop. His sophomore solo album, In Other Words came out earlier this year but he wants to end the year on a bang releasing a b-sides EP called Drama Club. Inspired by the 1993 film of the same name, “Fire in the Sky” features shimmering synths that sound straight out of season 1 of Stranger Things. Much like the movie, the track deals with a loss of innocents; Jacks sings ‘I was just a boy/too young to be sure how much of me died that night’ over the mid-tempo rock groove.” – Surviving the Golden Age
“I Wanna Dance/Lost” – Heartstreets
Montreal duo Heartstreets (Gab Godon and Emma Beko) spent years perfecting their craft by releasing a string of critically acclaimed tracks. The lead single off their 2016 debut You and I EP, “Cruising With You,” was an anthem that summer, garnering over 2.5 million streams. Following this success, Heartstreets shared the stage with the likes of Gallant, The Internet, Daniel Caesar, Charlotte Cardin, Busty and the Bass, and more.
Having gained support from the likes of Noisey, Stereogum, NOWNESS and more, Nick Leng brings forth a distinct knack for crafting romantic, evocative records filled with sonic texture and color. Throughout his two previous EP’s, numerous Hype Machine #1 singles, viral secret side projects and production/writing credits for artists across multiple genres on major labels, Nick’s sound is both undoubtedly one of a kind, and instantly recognizable.

New LIFE video / One for Skope
It’s such an exciting time for this lot at the moment. The new album ‘A Picture Of Good Health’ was BBC 6 Music’s Album Of The Day in early October and it was BBC Radio 1’s Album Of The Weekend. On top of that, their latest single ‘Bum Hour’ has recently been bumped up to b-list on 6 Music, which follows their a-listing for ‘Hollow Thing’ and further still, their previous two singles before that were also B-listed. Earlier this year the band had their first appearance at Glasto, played a blistering live session for Jack Saunders, played a packed out album launch in a Camden kebab shop and before all of this went on a 2-week sold out tour with IDLES (inc. a sold out Electric Ballroom show). Similarly, all of the album reviews so far have been incredibly positive too.

PORTLAND release outstanding debut album ‘Your Colours Will Stain’ via [PIAS]
Portland is the creative brainchild of musician and songwriter Jente Pironet. Sometime during the misty autumn of 2015, Jente collected a huge amount of song material, without a specific end purpose. Over the years, the songs were refreshed, adapted, rewritten and eventually gathered together and poured into a new creative receptacle by the name of Portland, a nod to the home of the late Elliot Smith.
LIFE Share Video For “Excites Me”
The animated, stop-motion video was directed by Manchester/York based artist Callum Scott-Dyson who says: “For ‘Excites Me’, we really wanted to do something manic and full of energy to match the pace of the track, while also develop a loose narrative that echoed some of the ideas in the song and lyrics. What started out as a more vague thing based around wanting to escape boring situations and explode with pent up rage, became a bit of a character piece about a man stuck in a boring job with lots of mundane things going on, who has to do something crazy to escape this life. Then the narrative gets crazier and crazier as his inner demon comes out and he grows into a rage filled monster.”
Founded by life-long punk/metal scene veterans having played with seminal Florida grindcore outfit Assück and cult avant sludge outfit Wormwood, among others, the band unleashes a haunting and intriguing amalgam of metal infused with a wide array of other elements.
Elliot Moss today shared the video for his pulsating new single “July 4,” the second released from his forthcoming sophomore LP A Change In Diet. “While recording, ‘July 4’ served as a sonic touchstone for the record,” explains Moss. “You can hear bits and pieces of it in the other tunes, also. It really helps to have a way of measuring what fits and what doesn’t…I was fortunate that it came along first.”
