‘Faesulae’ further demonstrates Meikle’s knack for songwriting and structure, touching on the sonics of Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver’s later material, it draws on simmering electronics, finger-picked guitar, and surging percussion, structurally diving through crescendos and varying degrees of tempo. Informed by the writings of Carl Jung and Joesph Campbell, as well as the work of Tolkien and George Lucas, Meikle draws on religion, society and politics, transposing his critique to nine different fictional landscapes – ancient ruins, mystical woodlands & more.
