iskwē – “Sweet Tuesday”

I wrote this song for my dear friend, a kindred spirit who ventured back to the sky world after a long and courageous battle with cancer. This song and its visuals are a commemoration of our last visit together, during which we embraced our mutual fears for the road ahead as much as we celebrated the beauty and mystery life offers. My hope is to convey the importance of not getting stuck in the despair of loss through celebrating those who have transitioned on and honouring every facet of life’s journey from birth to death. “Sweet Tuesday” is my contribution to the ethos of healing and embracing every emotion along the way.

Bellflower’s powerful new LP is out

More from the artist: “Upside Down talks a lot about duality. How we live with it, how to deal with it. It’s basically saying that there’s no sweet without sour. You have to accept that things are rough sometimes, but also be able to see the beauty that will come out of a tough or critical situation. There are many forms of destruction around us, but it comes with renewal, it gives place to something else, something new. To quote one of our songs: ‘It’s time to be afraid and face the Wildfire’, for there is always something that rises from the ashes.”

THE DEAD SOUTH SHARE “BLUE TRASH,” NEW SONG FROM SUGAR & JOY (OUT 10/11/19).

Tangy banjo and back chop beats drive “Blue Trash,” the third song from The Dead South’s forthcoming Sugar & Joy. Out today, “Blue Trash” is a playful acknowledgement that along their road from unsigned Canadian string set to Gold Certified, JUNO Award winning, Billboard charting band, some have taken issue with the prairie pickers’ progressive style. “Blue Trash,” built on a perfectly bluegrassy banjo lick, is about the importance of expressing their own musical hearts, on their own terms.
