Nooky Jones Announces New EP – ‘Like Candy’ (9.27) // Release Party at Paisely Park on 9.28.19
Fast rising Minneapolis band Nooky Jones is back with a new EP, Like Candy, slated for release on Friday, September 27, 2019. Like Candy represents the evolution in songwriting, arranging, recording, and producing in the two years since the release of Nooky Jones’ self-titled debut album. The band wanted to produce a collection of songs that captures the high octane atmosphere of the Nooky Jones live show experience, a sound that has been described by NPR’s Heavy Rotation as “equal parts Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo and Prince…guaranteed to move both heart and booty.” The band will celebrate the release of their EP at the legendary Paisley Park on September 28th, making it the first live ticketed event at the historic grounds, since Prince’s passing in 2016.

Directed by Jennifer Baichwal and Nick de Pencier, the team behind Anthropocene (TIFF’s Best Canadian Film Award winner this time last year) and Long Time Running, the video for “Here Come The Wolves” captures the song’s multitudes. With a grindstone-hewn art rock brutalism, the team uses the forge as metaphor for lyrical themes, which speak to the grinding crush of authoritarian power, and as an analog for the band itself, the industrial moil of being a band for nearly four decades.
