Track Released Today from Nyssa

“I was always like this they just tried to stop me”, Nyssa sings on her new single, “Hey Jackie”. This sentiment of resilience and rebellion threads its way through all of the Toronto troubadour’s work. Her cross-decade, cross-genre approach to songwriting and production are a rabble-rousing, wrecking ball to collective malaise and ennui, while her 21st century greaser style and sneer—like some kind of “alternate universe hard-rock disco Elvis” (DOMINIONATED)—form a beacon for the disillusioned.

Pekoe Cat – “Invisibility Cloak”

I have a love/hate relationship with my music. I love creating it; I hate it when it’s finished.

I’m always struggling with feeling confident in my songs once I release a finished track.

“Invisibility Cloak” is a reflection of that. Or maybe it was a cool bassline – I can’t remember…

Naytronix shares “I’m Becoming You” video directed by Merrill Garbus (Tune-Yards) via Fault

Whenever the opportunity arises, between globe-spanning tours and marathon writing sessions, Tune-Yards’ co-producer and bassist Nate Brenner makes a point of holing up in the duo’s Oakland studio and churning out countless musical ideas for his psych pop project, Naytronix. These sessions, as irregular as they are fruitful, have long formed the backbone of Naytronix’s releases. Combining his knack for taut and melodic bass lines with swirling, dreamy soundscapes, Naytronix’s first two albums (2012’s Dirty Glow and 2015’s Mister Divine), as well as his work scoring Boots Riley’s 2018 film Sorry to Bother You, established Brenner as a dynamic songwriter and composer in his own right.

Video: Young Dolph – “Crashin’ Out”

Young Dolph is the poster boy for independent success, using his business acumen to build a massive legion of friends without major assistance. Coming through with his first new single of 2019, Dolph shares “Crashin’ Out.” Combining street-level wisdom with extravagant boasts, “Crashin’ Out” is classic Dolph: “Never signed a deal, but I got more guap than all-a y’all,” Dolph intones at the beginning of the track’s second verse. It’s not bragging if you’re speaking the truth–and Dolph only speaks facts. In the visual, Dolph takes his fleet of camo-wrapped luxury cars to Manhattan, pokes his head out the window of his Wraith as he cruises down avenues, and hits up Midtown’s famous Halal Guys for late-night grub. Following up a series of star-studded, high-concept videos, the Highsnobiety-premiered “Crashin’ Out” brings Dolph back to his streetwise, guap-getting roots.

Ryann Releases Debut Solo Single “JFK” Via Ones To Watch Today!

About the track, Ryann says, “For about a year and half my attention was directed towards writing for other artists and getting to know some of the songwriters and producers in LA. Through this I met Sean Kennedy, who co-wrote JFK. I always knew I wanted to release my own music but was waiting for the right song that really felt like me. I’m putting my life on display. It reminded me of why I started writing. I definitely went through a phase where I dated someone that I knew was going to break my heart. I was excited by it though. Musically, it feels like an old-time movie. It’s not a sad story, but one of experience and learning”
