Watch the beautiful visual for “I Don’t Want To Be Your Love” taken from Joseph Shabason’s forthcoming Anne EP available May 10th on Western Vinyl. The EP is an afterword to his acclaimed 2018 full-length Anne through which he examined and processed his mother’s struggle with Parkinson’s disease. The song, featuring vocalist Dan Bejar of Destroyer, was put to stunning visuals by director Zach Shields.
Using a lyric from the song “no delusions of grandeur, just grandeur” as a prompt Shields states: “I don’t want to be your love” will explore this inner conflict of the performer — the acceptance and isolation of being on stage. The joy and shame of being on display. The fragile balance of baring one’s soul.” The video features Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Crown, Lincoln, etc.), Kelli Garner (Bully, Thumbsucker, Lars and the Real Girl, Horns) and Andrew Allan.
