Just because Dallas is more of a city then a coastal area doesn’t mean you can’t have any fun. There is so much to see and do in this city. From museums to amusement parks and concerts to green spaces, there’s always something to do in Dallas. If you already live in DFW, then you need to take advantage of some of these attractions.
If you’re visiting Dallas for the week, then your itinerary can be full. Use this list to find things to do during your stay. Here are some of the things that Dallas has to offer, most of which are free. There are plenty of hotels in Plano TX that are close to these attractions. State Fair of Texas
The State Fair of Texas is known as the biggest fair in Dallas and, by some accounts, the largest in the entire country. It has all the excitement that your family is looking for. You’ll be greeted by a huge mascot named Big Texas. Then you’ll come upon hundreds of rides, attractions, concerts, and fried food.
As one of the largest state fairs in the United States, it has thousands of visitors from around the world. The State Fair of Texas takes place throughout the month running from late September through early October. If you plan to visit Dallas in the fall this is a true must-see attraction. Klyde Warren Park
If you want to enjoy the greener side of Dallas, then you should check out Klyde Warren Park. This 5.2-acre public park sits on top of the major freeway. You and your family won’t get bored in this park. It has food trucks, dance parties, a public library, yoga and workout classes, and grassy areas to lay in the sun.
Check out the weekly activities to see if there are any special events taking place during the time you plan to visit. Take a keepsake photo of the Dallas skyline, then walk on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. This bridge provides you with the perfect picturesque photos for your social media page. When you’re tired of taking photos, head over to Trinity Groves to grab some good grub.
Trinity Groves
Speaking of which, your favorite cuisine is almost certain to be at Trinity Groves. They have American, Asian, barbecue, Italian, Mediterranean, seafood, vegan, and more. It’s all centered in the Dallas district restaurant hub. Spend a night out by ordering appetizers at Tapas Castile, grab dinner at Souk Mediterranean Bistro & Bar, and then make room for dessert at Saint Rocco’s New York Italian.
Dallas Museum of Art
The Dallas Museum of Art is across the street from Kyle Warren Park. While general admission is free, seeing specific exhibits might cost you money. As you roam throughout the museum, you’ll feel as if you’ve taken a trip around the world.
NorthPark Center
While going to the mall isn’t everyone’s favorite pastime, the NorthPark Center is more than just another shopping mall. It’s the second largest mall in the state of Texas. It even ranks No. 21 of massive shopping malls in the US. The NorthPark Center is home to the Apple Store, Nike, North Face, Tesla, and more. Whenever you’re tired of browsing, take a break by watching a movie or heading to the courtyard for some art, fresh air, and greenery curated by Ray Nasher of the Nasher Sculpture Center Fame.
