AWAR – Highs and Lows Video Premiere
New Zealand’s Jonathan Bree (The Brunettes) brings masked troupe to US and shares a new video
A self-confessed workaholic and social recluse, Jonathan spends his days (and nights) in a dingy home office attempting to run his record label Lil’ Chief Records (who have put out albums by the likes of The Ruby Suns and his previous band The Brunettes) whilst simultaneously producing albums for artists such as Princess Chelsea and Cool Rainbows, directing and starring in viral music videos for duets about Cigarette Smoking (yes THAT video) and then somehow finding time to record his own material when he should be sleeping.

“YPSTYCS” from Headphone Hair
Ian describes the track as such: “‘YPSTYCS’ basically lays out the emotional landscape of the whole album, and it was written second (I wrote the whole album in the current track order). As a song, it’s built on the raw excitement of a budding high school relationship, with undertones of the fault lines of illness, substance abuse and depression that will eventually lead to that relationship’s collapse.
Lion Babe’s New Song “Western World” ft. Raekwon is Out Now
Lion Babe just premiered their new song “Western World” feat. Raekwon on Beats1 Radio with Ebro and you can hear it now across all digital platforms – link to listen below. The track is from their forthcoming album, Cosmic Wind, due out March 29th, and pulls inspiration from the Pet Shop Boys timeless song “West End Girls” and features an appearance from the legendary Wu-Tang member Raekwon. Following their 2016 critically-acclaimed debut album Begin, Cosmic Wind is an introspective turn, highlighting their growth socially, physically, lyrically; musically! Lion Babe states simply, “It’s about the current climate of our American culture and soul. Honored to have Raekwon help paint this wild picture of the present.”
This collaboration of veteran musicians came together more smoothly than they ever could have imagined. After the songs were instrumentally framed, Carothers brought painter Michelle Anne Muldrow to sing with Nathan Junior. The result became the EP Painted Light, due out in the fall of 2018 on No Night Travel. Painted Light floats within sonic range between 90’s garage influenced rock and inventive, harmony-laden 80’s power pop.
