Berlin Taxi is the latest stop for musician Michael Arruebarrena. In recent years, the New Orleans music scene has been exposed to Arruebarrena’s songwriting through excursions in garage rock, psychedelia, and new wave. Berlin Taxi is his latest effort after further musical exploration; namely travel through Europe with bandmate Morgan McManus. The two discovered the distinctive styles of Euro-based synth pop and soon afterward began work on the Contract EP. Adding another New Orleans scene mainstay, Greg Manson, to the outfit, the group presents a clear take on synth based pop music incorporating the straight forward writing styles of Arruebarrena’s past works.

Legendary Grammy Award winner DIONNE WARWICK will release her first new album in 5 years, “SHE’S BACK”, on May 10th. Produced by her son Damon Elliot, the album will be released via his Kind Music and Entertainment One (eOne). The lead-off single will be an updated version of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David classic, “What The World Needs Now Is Love”, which Dionne recorded during the 1960s.

Last year, Vermilia, who released her debut album “Kätkyt”, earned much praise from the media and sparked debate in various forums.
Now, Vermilia has produced another slightly more surprising release: a cover version of “Täällä pohjantähden alla”, originally composed by Petri Laaksonen and written by Turkka Mali. Vermilia’s interpretation of “Täällä pohjantähden alla” has transformed the song in a profound way which could lead one to believe the original work to be a majestic Black Metal composition in its own right.

Dan Rico is a Brooklyn, NY based songwriter, producer, singer, and guitarist. He writes gritty, doo-wop tinged love songs about the end of the world. Since 2015 he has released two full length albums “Endless Love,” and “DREAMY,” along with several singles and EP’s. In 2018 he decided to quit traditional rock music in search of something new and moved out to New York from his hometown of Chicago. Boldly blending influences from a myriad of music crusaders- Sly and the Family Stone to Sonic Youth- Rico’s songs manage to be both fresh and gritty; elegant and jarring. If the Backstreet Boys took ecstasy and spent a month in a basement writing poetry and playing dice, they might land somewhere close to Dan Rico’s new record, “BA$EMENT P0P”.
