Baeilou Announces Single “Mourning Mantra”

Like a bright sun seen through an overcast haze, the new single from baroque singer-songwriter Baeilou is a warning of eventual planetary demise. “Mourning Mantra” uses a staccato cello and a caramel sweet melody to talk about the shifting landscape of earth. From the floating fish in the sea, to the flying birds in the sky, it’s a call to action, sooner rather than later. “Mourning Mantra” is off the upcoming EP, Inside Under, out August 24.

Matisse & Sadko Team Up with Raiden for Progressive House Anthem “Light Me Up”

Matisse & Sadko together with rising star Raiden prove that progressive house is far from dead on their new track “Light Me Up,” out on Nicky Romero’s Protocol Recordings. “Light Me Up” has all the makings of a bonafide festival anthem; its soaring melodies and pristine vocals illicit a feeling of euphoria from the first note, while the blooming bassline will have fans on their feet and dancing once the drop hits. The collaboration fuses Matisse & Sadko’s energetic house sound with Raiden’s dynamic production abilities for a track that feels nostalgic of EDM’s festival heydays, yet sophisticated enough for the modern dance scene. Matisse & Sadko have had numerous successes as of late, including “SLVR” with Steve Angello and “Break Through the Silence” with Martin Garrix, while Raiden has had a huge summer with the release of “Hit the Club” with Fedde Le Grand and “Keep My Light On” with Dubvision. Press play on “Light Me Up” to be instantly transported to your happy place!

VUYO aerates completion on prequel to EP with “Under The Stars”

In terms of production and lyricism, VUYO’s musical inspirations oscillate through J Dilla, Miles Davies, Fela Kuti, and The Beach Boys. Accordingly, he derives eclecticism in his style of “seldom” penned, impromptu compositions, being most comparable to the humble perseverance and conversational music of Anderson .Paak, with its twinges of neo-alt-hip-hop and life-experience outpours. Born in Zimbabwe and partly raised between Norway, South Africa and Zambia, Ole “VUYO” – Xhosa for “happiness” – Småge experienced varied culture and hardships when still a toddler. With a father heavily involved in the anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa amid Nelson Mandela, and a mother deeply invested in the Namibian liberation, their family suffered recurrent death-threats. Consequently, Ole and his mother moved to Oslo where he lived out his teenage years in the Norwegian capital, and recently joined the collective North Of.

Canadian’s Shagabond and Noah are like butter melting on your tongue with collaborative single “Arouse”, which blends crisp beats, and Noah’s dream-boat soulful vocal for the perfect addition to your ‘baby-makin’ playlist.

“We decided to meet up in Toronto for some studio time last September. I had a bunch of beats I had been working on over the summer that I was really excited to show Noah, but only one really stood out at the time. During an overnight session at a low-key studio in Toronto’s East end, we basically hashed out the entire track’s production, but couldn’t get the lyrics down. — Shagabond
