THE PAPER KITES To Release ‘On The Corner Where You Live’ (September 21); Listen To “Deep Burn Blue”
The Paper Kites announce On the Corner Where You Live (out September 21 via Nettwerk Records), the Australian band’s melancholic, mid-tempo companion to the recently released album, On the Train Ride Home. Give them your tired, your lonely, your lovesick, your unsure, The Paper Kites have a song for each of them on this latest album. On the Corner Where You Live wafts evocatively with noir-ish saxophones, guitars, ambient traffic, even the languid sound of rain. It’s levitating and bittersweet, heavy-hearted stories that are resoundingly universal.
Frontman Sam Bentley spoke of the moment the album’s concept clicked together. “It’s a collection of stories about these characters all living in an apartment building; I wanted to capture moments, feelings, it’s about people and their stories.”

A whole year after Miss Eaves’ viral video for “Thunder Thighs,” was lauded by Billboard as one of the top 25 feminist anthems of all time, called “true, organic body positivity without pandering” by Jezebel, and called a “summer anthem that celebrates every woman” by NPR it’s still being written about and shared … but guess what, she’s got a lot more to offer.
On August 3rd Miss Eaves will be releasing the follow-up to last year’s super successful Feminasty in the form of a skillfully high-energy EP titled ME AF which covers themes like living a happy single life and embracing your pubic hair, as highlighted in the video for the first single off the new EP, “Bush For the Push.” The video for the second single, “Kiss Kiss I’m Fabulous,” (which you can check out upon request) celebrates “black girl magic” and is empowering in a way that only 56 of the best Beyonce GIFS, or a slow motion Buffy the Vampire Slayer fight scene could even attempt to get close to.
Keeping Up With Miss World is a raw, 13 track power-pop, garage-party movie scene that plays out like a thumb numbing Instagram scroll fest. A teen-dream magazine collage, a multi-colored sonic mood board featuring torn up images of Ariel Pink, Kim Gordon, Clueless OOTDs, Madonna and Kim Kardashian smeared with gluestick goo.
Russian outfit Pompeya has been hard at work on their brand new album Dreamers slated for a summer 2018 release label Mishu. It’s the first album they’ve fully produced themselves. Dreamers shares their story & love for U.S. culture, 80’s music and the dream of spreading their art in the west to the masses. Through their album, rather than keeping the production & lyrics clean-cut and “perfect,” they embrace their own process through raw story telling, funky drum and bass grooves and catchy “stuck in your head” melodies that continue their trend of listeners constantly dancing. Expect a good time.
LUCAS (Cage The Elephant, Jimmy Page, Hammock)
Produced by Cage the Elephant’s Lincoln Parish, the record delivers high energy rock while carrying a strong britpop influence. This is credited to frontman Johnny Lucas, a Manchester native that heavily toured around the UK as a one-man show replete with beatbox and looping magic. It was there that Johnny caught the attention of Jimmy Page who told him “I loved what you did with the loop pedal. There was so much going on it was like a 5-D experience.”

A love for the very first drum machine beat I ever heard on Michael Jackson’s ‘Wanna be startin’ somethin’ definitely made its way in’

Robbie’s music is super original and different from the norm…I call it “multi-dimensional, progressive, piano-driven pop/rock.” Having previously been a sideman on keyboards, vocals, guitar and bass for other artists, including Fuel, Lisa Marie Presley, Nick Lachey, Everclear and many others, he’s excited about the release of his own original musical creation.

Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter/rapper 6LACK, releases the video for his new single, “Switch.” In the Rohan Blair-Mangat-directed video, 6LACK offers a symbolic glimpse into the life of fame in all its layers. Cutting back-and-forth between intimate personal video footage and live performances, the video displays a unique look into 6LACK’s life beyond the spotlight. On “Switch,” 6LACK expands on the moody R&B/hip-hop hybrid previously heard on “Prblms”—a 2016 release that earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap/Sung Performance. With its hypnotic melody and smooth beats, “Switch” also shows the subtle power of 6LACK’s vocals. “Switch” is the second single from 6LACK’s forthcoming project.
Issues the band of the clip, “‘Swampland’ is about the swamps that surround the fake serenity of the suburbs, like the ones in the American Bible Belt and in Northern Italy. It’s about the darkness hidden in uncontaminated landscapes, around villages, and suburbs where all human deceptions live. We are not judging, we just acknowledge what is happening: ‘Swampland’s all I know, Swampland’s all I own.'”
Cubicolor via AnjunaDeep release Melancholic New Single
Taking in an eclectic range of influences, including Boards Of Canada, Moderat and the Warp Records roster, Cubicolor combine electronica expertise with lyrical depth and a haunting, pervasive vocal style. Consisting of Dutch producers Ariaan Olieroock & Peter Kriek and British producer / lead vocalist Tim Digby-Bell, the electronica three piece are following the release of their debut Brainsugar in 2016 with new track ‘Counterpart’. The track was written, recorded, produced and mixed by the band in their studio on a boat in Amsterdam.
When the first single from Fastball’s second record was released a few months before the album dropped, it was apparent there would be no sophomore slump. “The Way” exploded at radio, eventually going Gold, and propelling All the Pain Money Can Buy to Gold status in only three months and Platinum another three months later. The release also received two Grammy® nominations, and the band won four Austin Chronicle awards for the album.
Produced by the band with Julian Raymond (Cheap Trick, Sugarland, LP), All the Pain Money Can Buy also delivered the second single, “Fire Escape,” as well as the Top 20 single “Out of My Head” (whose chorus was recently reinterpreted in “Bad Things” by Machine Gun Kelly & Camilla Cabello) while also including a track with Poe (whose Hello was certified Gold in 1996).
