Future Generations share new single. Album via FrenchKiss in Sept

As a trio, Future Generations created an EP that included their breakthrough single “Stars” which helped land them a deal with Frenchkiss Records before they had even finished school. With the addition of Sheridan (whom Gore invited to join the band while waiting in line at a school dance) and Wells (a lucky Craigslist find), Future Generations now feels complete. Throughout Landscape the 5-piece build their pop-minded songcraft with bursts of free-form experimentation. And while the album’s abundance of hooky melodies makes each song immediately catchy, they unfold with an intricacy of detail that reveals more nuance and depth with every new listen.

“Day Month Second” is an irresistible electro-pop bop that hits back at bad-boy behaviour. Epically catchy, “Day Month Second” sees post-breakup GIRLI encourage her tribe to live in the present, making for a euphoric track with a gritty dance feel. Fabich reworks the track with synth strings and dance-infused beats, making it a heady club mix that’ll soundtrack parties all summer long.

Since its release three weeks ago, the original version of the track has clocked up over 430,000 Spotify plays, having been added to New Music Friday in the UK, Portugal and Turkey upon release, and subsequently being added to the Summer Hits UK, Happy Pop Hits and Future Hits playlists. Last week the track received its first Radio 1 plays on the Best New Pop show and on the Scott Mills show.

The track, which has over 10 million streams on Spotify alone, is also Maluma’s debut English-speaking feature. BURNS production work encompasses the RIAA Platinum-certified “Make Me…” [feat. G-Eazy] for Britney Spears, and 2018 releases for Hailee Steinfeld, Johnny Yukon, Liam Payne, French Montana, and many more. An in-demand remixer, he’s left his mark on official remixes for Lana Del Rey, Charli XCX, Iggy Azalea, Rihanna, and Drake. Simultaneously, he hosted explosive residencies in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Atlanta in addition to igniting stages at Lollapalooza, Made In America, Stereosonic Festival, Tomorrowland, and beyond.

“On the way to Hampstead Heath last year I noticed a Big Issue seller who looked different from normal; a well-spoken, middle aged, white and middle class woman” frontman Ed Cares explains, “This song is about the surprise of seeing someone from my tribe selling the magazine on the street, the realisation that any of us could end up there, and the guilt of feeling a particular sympathy towards her.”

Battling The Same Demons

The stigma attached to suffering from depression forced many to deal with the affects quietly and deal with things without talking about it. Thankfully, things are changing and it’s now understood how important it is to talk about mental health in the open and showing people that they aren’t alone.
