Izzy Escobar Channels Adversity Into Empowering Debut Single
Izzy Escobar’s music is about loving one another the way we want to be loved ourselves. And having FUN along the way! Rising from a “never ending circle of violence” from an abusive stepparent, where she was voiceless in protecting her own family members, she began channeling that pain into lyrics–and eventually songs–at a very young age. “I began to write words, and soon realized that I could synchronize the words in my diary with the tune in my head” says the Massachusetts native, whose latest singles show how far she’s come from that frightened girl to a strong, capable woman who wants to spread her message of hope and strength to those who may face their own struggles. “A few years later, as I read through that same songbook, I noticed that I had made a shift from finding my voice to helping those who couldn’t find their own”.
OneRepublic released their debut set Dreaming Out Loud in 2007. The album included the multi-platinum-selling smash single Apologize, which shattered digital sales and airplay records worldwide and received a Grammy Award nomination. The band’s sophomore album, 2009’s Waking Up, produced the hit singles: All the Right Moves, Secrets and Good Life. Following the global success of the Native album, which featured the #1 and 10 million plus selling single “Counting Stars,” and worldwide tour, OneRepublic released Oh My My, their fourth full-length album in 2016 on Mosley Music/Interscope Records. This spring the band released “Start Again ft. Logic,” a song that is featured on the soundtrack for the Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why (Season 2).
LFZ Shares “Naturalistic” Track Via L.A. Record | New LP ‘Name Plus Focus’ Out 7/20 On Castle Face
L.A. Record has shared LFZ’s new track “Naturalistic.” LFZ is an ambient, experimental act and the pseudonym of guitarist Sean Smith. The single is the latest off his upcoming record, Name Plus Focus. When speaking on the song, Sean stated, “Where most of “Name Plus Focus” deals with airy themes, “Naturalistic” is elementally the most earthy piece on the record and is more about conjuring an image or place to ones mind than the usual emotional abstractions in my work. I visualize an ancient woodland ritual or a lumbering mammal or an insect on the move in the redwoods of Northern California, but the listener should experience the freedom to perceive natural spaces familiar to them.” Earlier this month, LFZ released the first single, “Name Plus Focus Equals Purpose” with BrooklynVegan.
Indie folk single from Mountain Lions – “California”
“California” is a personal journey of self-discovery, and one piece of the culmination of songwriting and storytelling that Steven Diaz (formerly of The Lighthouse and The Whaler) has crafted over the past five years. The upbeat and glistening melody tells the story of setting your sights on the goal, but being present in the entire journey. It rejoices in the kinetic energy of the road. Diaz explains, “It has some ties to Jack Kerouac because the road is a fun place to be, especially in between landmarks. For me, it’s a reminder to enjoy the process and not wish that I was there already.”

Ava Luna announce new album, Moon 2
Ava Luna has always been a conversation between its members—sometimes inward-facing, but always uniquely worth eavesdropping on. Soul and funk, krautrock, post-punk, R&B, gospel and even reggae influences all bounce off each other in sync with each participant’s idiosyncratic background and interests. With Moon 2, that specificity has only tightened but, as in any relationship that has existed for the better part of a decade, the conversation has evolved.
Today, LA-based, fuzz pop artist L.A. Girlfriend shares the video for “Wild” off her REGINA EP, out now. EARMILK premiered the video writing, “The video for ‘Wild’ is more of that self-aware, social media age cool. Sporting ripped denim, mini-skirts, a little 90’s velcro and vampire fangs, the girl gang bounce around the streets, constantly sizing one another up at the same time as they are performing synchronized movement. It’s very Urban Outfitters, but only on the surface. Underneath the glam and is a complex group of women who feel and think.”
