WIBG announce upcoming record ‘Winnie the Nihilist’
In their current state of designed perpetual flux WIBG (fka Wooden Indian Burial Ground) has found some serious footing. Since 2012 Justin Fowler, Dan Galucki have consistently churned out shimmering, spasmodic psych rock of an exceptional degree. Since joined by Nathan Moore and Cory Gray in 2016, the crew has found a sort of chaotic cohesion. Many tours across the United States and Europe with the likes of FUZZ, Built to Spill and countless other groups of questionable individuals have left WIBG wise, weathered and thankful for the opportunity to shred. On tip toes and with bloody hands WIBG creates something more than songs. Their singular style is an organic cacophony of scattered metallic sway and lascivious throbbing that will leave you writhing and shaking into the wee hours.

After spending a year in their studio crafting the follow up to their EP, Suburban Birds are ready to surface with their 11 track debut LP “Lituya Bay”. The record reflects a time when the band collectively dealt with family illness and developed a strange fascination with large natural disasters. The record’s title, “Lituya Bay”, is a reference to the largest megatsunami in recorded history: a 1,722 ft wave that crashed into Alaska in 1958 after a violent earthquake and rockfall. Along those lines, the record has a beachy, washed out atmosphere, flowing from sun-soaked psychedelic jams (“The Time Has Come”, “New Noir”) to crashing chaos (“Kaleidoscope”, “Mangata”). Badge Headmakes a strong political and social statement about an all too familiar problem in the US. Here’s the description of the track in the bands own words; “The track Badge Head is obviously about the police …ha ha. It’s a song that rails against the practice of Racial Profiling and about the fact that most people stopped and searched by the police are minorities. Here in America, our prison system is filled mostly with minorities. We believe the policies of the police and justice system here in America are racist, which obviously, we are against. There is too much power given to the police, and the majority of personnel working for the justice system are power hungry and self-serving rather than serving and protecting the people equally.”
