Sir Sly Announce Sophomore Album “Don’t You Worry, Honey”

“Don’t You Worry, Honey is the most intensely personal piece of work I’ve ever been a part of,” says lead singer Landon, explaining the profoundly cathartic experience that was making their new album. “Making this album gave me a safe space to come and make music with two people I appreciated more than anything. That safe space saved my life and gave me a sense of purpose and renewed verve for life. This album is an amalgamation of all feelings and the revelations that came during the process. It’s full of grief, bitterness, lightheartedness, questions I was asking myself along the way, and against all odds, joy. We worked tirelessly to make something we were proud of– something folks could sing along to, dance to, laugh along with, and something to make some folks feel less like they are alone in the world.”

Wild Ponies to Release ‘Galax’ on August 25

The Nashville-based Wild Ponies are proud to announce the release of their new album, Galax, on August 25, via Gearbox Records. Bridging the gap between old and new, the album features revered Old-Time players Snake Smith, Kyle Dean Smith, and Kilby Spencer from its namesake, Galax, Virginia–and some of the band’s favorite musicians from Nashville– Fats Kaplin, Will Kimbrough, Neilson Hubbard and Audrey Spillman– to create a modern masterpiece with traditional folk influences.

Galax pays tribute to the powerful music and rugged landscape of Southwest Virginia, where both Wild Ponies’ members Doug and Telisha Williams were born and raised. There, in mountain towns like Galax, old-time American music continues to thrive, supported by a community of fiddlers, flat-pickers, and fans. The stripped-back album nods to the band’s history while still pushing forward. Recorded in the shed behind Doug’s old family farm in the Appalachians (steps away from the site where Doug and Telisha were married), Galax returns Wild Ponies to their musical and geographic roots.

At 16, Jamie had met kindred spirit James Macdonald at music college and recorded the 2004 album Good Morning Sunshine… and Goodnight with him under the name When I Was a Little Girl, a well-received debut through the independent label Where It’s At Is Where You Are. But a year later, Jamie was in a car crash that tragically claimed the life of his best friend. Out for the day with one of Jamie’s sisters and another friend, the car aquaplaned and hit another car at a junction. LA’s Holy Wars share stunning second single “Orphan”

Holy Wars is fronted by the fierce singer Kat Leon, whose art has always been inspired by the spectre of death and the occult, but in 2015, she suddenly lost both of her parents within months of each other, plunging her into a grief the likes of which she had never known. The songs that comprise Holy Wars’ Mother EP were written in the aftermath of Leon’s period of grieving, with “Orphan” specifically referencing the acceptance stage. Leon re-emerged in early 2017, altered as an artist by her darkest days, and Holy Wars became an extrapolation of the turmoil she felt inside. In turn, Leon had penned Holy Wars’ first collection of songs, a collection of letters set to grief.
