Waves is from his new EP due out this summer, and is a song about regret:

“‘Waves’ was written for a good friend and became my interpretation of what was going on in that friend’s head whilst battling severe mental health issues,” I wasn’t always able to be there to help them through it and the song evolved into somewhat of an ode to me being a bit of a shit friend when they really needed someone around. I wanted to let that friend know I’m always thinking of them.”

Rival Shapes Release ‘Moody Pull EP’

Today, May 23rd, 2017 the pensive indie/alternative band Rival Shapes released their moody new EP Pull. This is the band’s follow-up to the 2016 debut EP Push. The Tucson Weekly had this to say about the project:

“All of Pull’s songs are ballad-tempo, anchored by intertwining guitars and punctuated by funereal organ…Frank Dillon’s lyrics, though bleak, are ambiguous enough to acknowledge the subject matter’s complexity and allow the listener to project into the scenarios of “Evaporate,” “Lost in the Move” or “The Longing”—particular standouts on a remarkably consistent record. Dillon’s impassioned singing performs the same function.”

Norwegian pop sensation JIM releases lyric video for ‘Under Attack’

Rising Norwegian pop sensation JIM has released the lyric video for his new single ‘Under Attack’, out now through Warner Music.

‘Under Attack’ is a bright pop anthem incorporating playful electronics and huge euphoric choruses, and follows the release of JIM’s debut single ‘On and On’ earlier this year.

Written in Rome with Daniele Autore and Mugisho Nhonzi JIM explains, “It started with the chorus. I always try to write anthemic, larger-than-life choruses. It’s a pretty intense way of working, but it’s a part of my identity as a songwriter. I wasn’t looking to tell a specific story but I wanted the song to be dark and epic. I keep seeing pictures of outer space in my mind, whenever I’m listening to the song, or playing it with my band. Musically, I think it’s both sentimental and uplifting, combining all the elements I think is needed in a big pop tune… 80s synths, punk rock guitars and gang vocals.”

For the Rabbits Premiered Rudy Stone’s New Single, “Near Me”

‘”Near Me” is an intriguing offering, it nods in equal measure to the psychedelic offerings of The Byrds and the more experimental end of early punk perfected by Magazine. The whole thing is given a crisp modern production, as perfectly judged wobbly guitar lines are interspersed by breezy percussion, and swirling, enigmatic organs. Lyrically it’s a slightly unsure love letter, as Andy sings, “you were nearly perfect, I was almost myself” and latterly he comes to the somewhat unsure conclusion, “all I want is for you to be near me, when you’re by my side I can see so clearly”. Whilst this is in some ways an introduction to a new songwriting talent, it’s one that is every bit as perfectly judged as you’d expect from someone who’s taken their time to perfect their craft.” – For The Rabbits
