Hayden Calnin expresses regret on new single
Waves is from his new EP due out this summer, and is a song about regret:
“‘Waves’ was written for a good friend and became my interpretation of what was going on in that friend’s head whilst battling severe mental health issues,” I wasn’t always able to be there to help them through it and the song evolved into somewhat of an ode to me being a bit of a shit friend when they really needed someone around. I wanted to let that friend know I’m always thinking of them.”

Rival Shapes Release ‘Moody Pull EP’
Today, May 23rd, 2017 the pensive indie/alternative band Rival Shapes released their moody new EP Pull. This is the band’s follow-up to the 2016 debut EP Push. The Tucson Weekly had this to say about the project:
“All of Pull’s songs are ballad-tempo, anchored by intertwining guitars and punctuated by funereal organ…Frank Dillon’s lyrics, though bleak, are ambiguous enough to acknowledge the subject matter’s complexity and allow the listener to project into the scenarios of “Evaporate,” “Lost in the Move” or “The Longing”—particular standouts on a remarkably consistent record. Dillon’s impassioned singing performs the same function.”
More awake than dreampop, more violent than shoegaze, Seasurfer makes music that pulverizes even as it caresses. Norwegian pop sensation JIM releases lyric video for ‘Under Attack’
Rising Norwegian pop sensation JIM has released the lyric video for his new single ‘Under Attack’, out now through Warner Music.
‘Under Attack’ is a bright pop anthem incorporating playful electronics and huge euphoric choruses, and follows the release of JIM’s debut single ‘On and On’ earlier this year.
Written in Rome with Daniele Autore and Mugisho Nhonzi JIM explains, “It started with the chorus. I always try to write anthemic, larger-than-life choruses. It’s a pretty intense way of working, but it’s a part of my identity as a songwriter. I wasn’t looking to tell a specific story but I wanted the song to be dark and epic. I keep seeing pictures of outer space in my mind, whenever I’m listening to the song, or playing it with my band. Musically, I think it’s both sentimental and uplifting, combining all the elements I think is needed in a big pop tune… 80s synths, punk rock guitars and gang vocals.”

About the track Amy explains, “The lyrics and melody came to me quickly and without fuss. I wrote it after a little scare I had at the doctor with a mysterious lump. It’s about the constant (and often invisible) line of fragility that we walk upon in life, learning how to follow trails of light throughout difficult circumstances, and resisting the black hole-like vacuum of negative thought patterns.”
Twin Wild Share Video For “Control”
Today Twin Wild are pleased to share the video for new single “Control”, which is out now through Play It Again Sam. Watch the video, directed by Tobias Benjamin Lever, HERE. Produced by Adam Noble (Nothing But Thieves, Placebo, Deaf Havana), “Control” proves a rousing and anthemic showing from the British band.
Speaking about the track, the band elaborate: “’Control’ is different to what we have ever released before. The chorus started as a rhythmical melody we had been playing with for a while for fun and we didn’t even plan for it to become a song really until we wrote the lyrics. This song is that little smile you get when karma has its way.”

In the first release of 2017 from his mixtape Seattle’s Own, Draze calls out fellow rappers, the media, and pop culture with his new song & video “Ain’t Nobody Talking ’bout No Real Shit”. The song title was inspired by an excerpt from soul singer D’Angelo in a conversation with Black Panther co-founder Bobby Seale [Huffington Post].
Draze says: “This title was not made to be provocative. It is simply honest and raw. We got kids being killed by cops in the streets, toxic drinking water in Flint, MI, and racism in the White House. And most these rappers are just poppin’ bottles like they don’t see none of it. This song is about bringing balance to the game.”
The Solars share a new music video for their psych-tinged folk rock track “Goddess of the Suburbs.” The single, premiered yesterday with Atwood Magazine, comes off of their recently released EP Retitled Remastered.
“Warm folk guitar licks mix with melodic bass lines and droning keys to totally envelop our ears in technicolor aural delight. The Solars are absolutely mesmerizing, evoking the likes of alt-J and Fleet Foxes while pushing us to expand our horizons and maybe appreciate the lives we often take for granted. “Goddess of the Suburbs” has a lot to offer, making it worth more than a few listens. Just know that life won’t work out exactly how you want it to – but if you set your sights high and expect the unexpected, then with a little luck, it’ll be a pretty cool trip.” -Atwood Magazine

They teamed up with Northern Transmissions to premiere their latest single “Pins and Needles” off of their impending LP Dream Dream, due for release July 9th.
‘”Near Me” is an intriguing offering, it nods in equal measure to the psychedelic offerings of The Byrds and the more experimental end of early punk perfected by Magazine. The whole thing is given a crisp modern production, as perfectly judged wobbly guitar lines are interspersed by breezy percussion, and swirling, enigmatic organs. Lyrically it’s a slightly unsure love letter, as Andy sings, “you were nearly perfect, I was almost myself” and latterly he comes to the somewhat unsure conclusion, “all I want is for you to be near me, when you’re by my side I can see so clearly”. Whilst this is in some ways an introduction to a new songwriting talent, it’s one that is every bit as perfectly judged as you’d expect from someone who’s taken their time to perfect their craft.” – For The Rabbits
Shame”, their first new single since January. “Shame” is the next step in the evolution of a creative collaboration between vocalist Tye James and producer/multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Buscema that has already seen the project hit #1 on Hype Machine twice in the past year and accumulate over a million plays on Spotify to-date. “Shame” is electronic-tinged arena-ready rock at it’s core, but a few listens through will find traces of a more nuanced array of influences that reflects the meticulous songwriting and arranging that went into the making of what will surely be one of the most talked about songs this summer. It’s pulsing wall of sound and infectious rhythm provides the perfect soundscape for James’ powerful vocals to really find new ways to express itself.

Absolutely Not’s new album covers dark and heavy political and social themes, but always with a comic twist and pop sensibility to keep the vibe more playful and bratty. Produced by frontman Donnie Moore and engineered by Brian Fox, Errors is a collection of songs about people either mislabeled as “errors” by the general public just because they are misunderstood and different, or people that have horrible motivations or perceptions, making them actual “errors” of society. For example, the lead single “Strictly Top” is glam-rock style song with a humorous view on Donnie Moore’s sexuality, but it also doubles as a message for ignorant people to be more open-minded and accepting.

His admission of god as a guiding force in his life made me sad that he felt he needed that support, or at least needed to share that commonality with others. Musically this is a very different song for us but writing it inspired further exploration on the album. We doubled all of the guitars with a glisstentar which helps give it that creepy vibe and ended up doing that many other times on the album.”

Skirting the edges of a hundred peeling stickers on dusty bins in forgotten record stores, Mux Mool didn’t set out to throw critics into a labeling tizzy—he just makes what sounds right. Jagged broken beats slip-slide across circuit-bent, pitch-shifted synths in a dystopian wasteland of 90’s nostalgia. The Mux Mool arsenal is a moody collection of instrumental dynamism vacillating between the serious and the silly.
Every song that Aaron Sinclair writes has a certain underlying feeling. SPIN described it as “twitchy paranoia.” Baeble sensed a “strungout urgency” in his voice, while the Austin Chronicle called his music “tension-driven” with “tight, rough riffs and sharp post-punk lines” – a “mastered fusion of indie jams and roots music.”
