Street Eaters share intense, driving “Take What I Don’t Need”

Street Eaters are a truewave/punk band from Berkeley + Oakland, CA that has drawn a range of sonic comparisons to bands from Wipers to Masshysteri, Autoclave to Drive Like Jehu, Huggy Bear to KARP, Sonic Youth’s Bad Moon Rising to Warsaw. After years of relentless international touring on the heels of their well-received album “Blood::Muscles::Bones” (released on Nervous Intent in the U.S./Contraszt! in Europe), Megan March and John No returned home to troubled times in their immediate bay area underground punk community/family and the world at large. True to form, the band sought to come to terms with this changed landscape by diving deeply into their own recording studio to create a new record with an expansive new vision. This record, “The Envoy”, is a concept album based on famed dystopian, gender revolutionary, anti-authoritarian author Ursula K. Le Guin’s influential books “The Dispossessed” and “Left Hand of Darkness”.

Vilde releases the intelligent and invigorating ‘Maintain’

Australian-born, Stockholm-based alt.pop artist Thomas Savage, AKA Vilde, releases his new single, the driving, intelligent and infectious ‘Maintain’.

Building his debut album piece by piece, dropping a new single each month, the ex-Kins frontman ups the tempo on this latest effort. Synth arpeggios cascade and unwind, cold electronic bleeps build suspense, before Savage’s claustrophobic vocals usher in the relentless drums and bass that drive the track forward at an invigorating pace.

Our friends at The Alternative are premiering today and we are beyond excited to show you the third single from this stellar LP.

Skye wrote the album in the Bitterroot Valley in Montana before heading to LA to record, where he teamed up with his long-time friend and collaborator Cassorla (Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Blitzen Trapper, Taylor Goldsmith), who produced and helped to co-write it. All That Light fuses his signature violin-based folk-art sound with 808’s, hyper-satured Moog bass lines, glitchy drum loops and shimmering synths, forming a completely unparalleled sound that’s backed by his vivid lyrics. He’s joined on the album by some of his friends and frequent collaborators, including Vanessa Carlton (Skye is also her one-man backing band when she tours), Jolie Holland and Stevie Weinstein-Foner (aka SWF).

Sadistik Releases New Full Length on Equal Vision Records

Two months after a cryptic video alluded to a new Sadistik album on Equal Vision Records, the highly-anticipated Altars full-length is now available on Streaming, iTunes and on a limited run vinyl. Altars is a cohesive artistic statement that bucks against the trend of disposable hip hop that has become commonplace in recent years. The focus is on creating a singular vision, voiced collectively through each aspect of the project, that speaks to the listener. One needs to look no further than the artwork, which was created by Michael Hussar (best known for his oil paintings which have sold to the likes of Kat Von D and Madonna), to get a glimpse into the artistry and attention to detail that went into Altars. Sonically and lyrically, the record is emotive, it is raw, and most importantly, it is honest; culminating in a release that will undoubtedly solidify Sadistik’s well-earned position as one of the most respected artists in the world of alternative hip hop.

The third track to be shared from the ‘Made Simple’ EP, the song’s subject matter is certainly a departure from the band’s acclaimed previous tracks ‘Film Club’ and ‘Kiss?’, as frontman Ed Cares explains:

“Having released some music about kissing mums and fancying a girl, I thought it only appropriate that we now tackled the impending end of the world in a global warming/nuclear strike scenario. ‘Dust’ describes a roasting high-temperature cooking experience and the final thoughts of a man approaching his maker.”

Begod x Sbvce “Ruin The World”

“Ruin The World” is a cut off the upcoming project from Production/Songwriter duo Baegod and Sbvce titled “Ride or Die Music”. The song was produced by Sbvce (Pronounced Space). The track has a Futuristic R&B meets throwback 90s feel to it. The pair penned the track about a relationship so powerful that doing anything to endanger its existence could literally “Ruin The World”. After writing countless songs together and collaborating for years the duo knows how hard it is to balance a personal and a creative relationship. Spending to much time building one while neglecting the other is a constant challenge.

Sixo shares reflective track “Random Awakening”

For years Scotty Trimble, the former professional motocross racer and indie rap producer better known as Sixo, has questioned the validity of free will and believed that every outcome has a likelihood of occurring or not occurring. Can our actions truly be considered under our control when existing within a limited amount of variables? Are perceptions of free will merely illusion? With those lingering concepts and a head full of ’60s and ’70s psychedelic rock, Sixo entered his home studio and began crafting ‘The Odds of Free Will’, his third full-length record.

LA Psych-Jazz Trio Brainstory Premieres Singel via IMPOSE

Brainstory’s self titled “mini-album” is a landmark for this Inland Empire born trio of jazz musicians. The Album takes listeners on a maiden voyage inward through the skies of the soul. The journey embarks its listeners through psychedelic landscapes and untouched terrains of psych-rock jazz leaving its passengers in a cathartic state of euphoria. Humanistic themes such as illusions, desires, and inner contemplation relate the listener back to his or herself in an effort to clear a path of self discovery and enlightenment. The band feels all too much that the word “psychedelic” has lost its true meaning in today’s music scene. Instead, the word suggests retro outfits and 1960s nostalgia. Brainstory wishes to remind audiences that psychedelic music is aimed at freeing the mind and soul to explore the depths of existence in this vast universe of being.

Julian Jasper shares the brilliant first new single from his debut EP

Born in San Diego and currently based in LA, Julian Jasper is a Steely Dan for the 21st century, or maybe a lapsed Rundgren after he crossed paths with Ariel Pink. “Wait Until Dawn” unfolds with a confidence rarely heard these days that’s representative of the EP at large, driven by carefree, hook-laden melodies and dynamic basslines. Jasper sounds like Boz Scaggs on a dopamine bender, distractedly strutting and bouncing from one disused phone booth to another looking for a connection.

Mux Mool shares new track “The IRS”

Skirting the edges of a hundred peeling stickers on dusty bins in forgotten record stores, Mux Mool didn’t set out to throw critics into a labeling tizzy—he just makes what sounds right. Jagged broken beats slip-slide across circuit-bent, pitch-shifted synths in a dystopian wasteland of 90’s nostalgia. The Mux Mool arsenal is a moody collection of instrumental dynamism vacillating between the serious and the silly.

Australian sensation, Flume, is perhaps the one electronic artist who most gracefully handled the transition from underground to the mainstream (while also retaining that all-important “street cred”). If his jump to the majors wasn’t as obvious a couple of years ago, it became undeniable last year with his album, Skin, which saw him featured on Billboard and countless others charts. Coast Modern breezy new track, “Pockets Full of No”

Sometimes the only way to get ahead is to stop following the leader, and start running your own race. Coast Modern flies out of the pack with a refreshingly uninhibited sound for disenchanted dreamers everywhere. Building on an admiration for the spirit of misfit alternative bands and the fearless ethos of modern hip hop, the duo creates alternative pop with a wink that aims to push the genre into the future.

The LA duo – comprised of Coleman Trapp and Luke Atlas – today release their new song, “Pockets Full of No”- a kicked back and mellowed out track that seeks to have you looking on the lighter side of life. Speaking of the track, the duo noted; ‘Pockets’ is a song about having fun with no money. When you got pockets full of no u can still have a life full of YESSSS.
