MusiCares Honors Musician David Francisco During Grammy Week

David Francisco’s life was permanently changed last April when a distracted driver ran a red light and T-boned him while he was riding his bike home from the world-renowned Blackbird Academy in Nashville, where he was studying music production. The initial prognosis was devastating and landed the 24-year old singer/songwriter at The Shepherd Center in Atlanta fighting to regain his ability to walk while longing to make music again.

After 10 months, both goals are within reach! Now walking with assistive devices, Francisco has returned to Blackbird and is again realizing his dream of making music. The difference is that now there is just a whole lot more interest in this incredible musician. The music community has rallied around him led by John McBride, who owns the audio school he attends. Dave Pensado and Herb Trawick honored Francisco at the annual 2016 Pensado Awards in Los Angeles. Additionally, the philanthropic arm of NARAS, called MusiCares, stepped up in a big way to help the family with the mountain of medical expenses he has incurred since being injured.

Fascinations Grand Chorus “Can’t Make Everyone Happy”

The Brooklyn-based project Fascinations Grand Chorus started in 2016, when Stephanie and Andrew came together from rival bands and decided they were both better songwriters than the other person. They decided to join up and compete with each other to see who was right

Two rival songwriters, joined together to form an audio experiment of pop stylings. What started as an argument eventually formed into a band of competition. Despite their many differences, Stephanie (vocals/keyboards) and Andrew (drums) are brought together by their love of The Misfits, 1910 Fruitgum Company and certain antiquated arcade games. They joined together in part for the competition of writing against each other and to navigate through the waters of the current, lackluster music scene. Each release is a competition, often more than a friendly challenge, but all for the greater good of pushing their respective boundaries of songwriting, producing and arranging.

Warm Soda announces final record ‘I Don’t Wanna Grow Up’

Within seconds of the dropping the needle you’ll get the feeling of being in good hands: we have here another AP course in power-pop, delivered by our man Matthew Melton with the confidence and consistency of your favorite late night diner. The familiarity works as a curious device – this is directly in his wheelhouse, no sonic surprises whatsoever, yet somehow these odes to teenage love and heartache are brand new, catchy and vital. His twists and turns utilizing the same tools are frankly astounding in their continued freshness. That this is the final Warm Soda record (in anticipation of his new band Dream Machine’s debut, also forthcoming on Castle Face Records) seems logical when you consider the way he’s re-written the same vibe into 4 excellent records of catchy pop. A lesser talent would have given up after 2 records tops – Melton’s commitment to the platonic ideal of power pop again bears fruit, and dare I say it’s the best yet? Mix tape makers of the world, take note: if you leave the new Warm Soda out of your next amorous transmission to that cute guy or girl you just met, you’re fucking up.

SUNLESS: Urraca Debut By Minneapolis Death Metal Trio Playing At Metal Injection

Metal Injection offers of the belittlingly yet entrancing Urraca, “they deliver an experience equal parts blistering, doom enveloped, and massively black metal influenced. Overall reminding me of both Baring Teeth and Imperial Triumphant, but crossbred together into one bizarre forward-thinking force. Those comparisons if you didn’t guess, are meant as a high compliment. As both those bands represent a high artistic mark for Gorguts and Deathspell Omega influenced modern death metal and black metal done with a unique signature twist all their own. Something SUNLESS has pulled off quite well, as Urraca never feels like a mindless derivative experience without anything fresh brought to the table of their own.”

Sarantos ‘We Kiss In The Shadows’ Official Music Video

Shadows are a normal part of every day life. There are shadows all around us. They are everywhere. In this music video, I decided to trek around America but no matter where I go or how far I travel, the shadows followed me. The shadows are always there because they are a part of me, just like they are a natural part of all of us. The shadows can hide many secrets. We can never escape them. Sometimes, they can offer us shelter.

BLAISE MOORE MUSIC VIDEO FOR “FRIENDS”

Toronto-born singer Blaise Moore celebrates Valentine’s Day with the double release of her new EP, Laurence, and a music video for her single, “Friends.” Like all of Blaise’s music, Laurence is deeply rooted in personal experience—with intro and outro tracks named for airport codes (London and Toronto, respectively), the EP, titled after Blaise’s real-life subject, is a brief but vivid play-by-play of a passionate love affair and its subsequent heartbreak. As Blaise herself put it, “the EP is about a guy named Laurence from London who only thought with his dick.” Laurence is Blaise at her truest: vulnerable, soulful, brash, and utterly resilient.

FOMO Feat. Aybe “My Love”

Baltimore-based artist FOMO makes his way back into hearts just in time for Valentine’s Day with his sophomore release. Teaming up with gifted vocalist Aybe, the two deliver a passionate performance that sets ablaze feelings of love. Their new single “My Love,” out now on Warpaint Records, combines a four on the floor rhythm with an uplifting melody bound to make the heart dance.

The song is inspired by FOMO’s experience of a breakup that left his heart scarred. But through his optimism and determination, he was able to find love again – as hopeless as it once had seemed. The producer wanted to develop a song that would portray his emotions to the fullest, and reached out to Aybe, a singer who’s voice is purely characterized by soul and zeal. In collaboration, the two artists are able to tell his story with “My Love.”
