VINCE GRANT “SWEET ADDICTION”
As the country faces an ever-widening opioid epidemic, singer-songwriter Vince Grant has released a new video, Sweet Addiction, an affecting musical account of his personal struggle with addiction. The song is the latest from his critically acclaimed EP entitled, My Depression Is Always Trying To Kill Me, which the Huffington Post featured stating, “To say that this EP is promising, good, or great would be a disservice. It’s more than that. It’s an ethereal voice that tells us we are not alone.” The release has been featured on dozens of music industry websites, and received excellent reviews from such popular and diverse sites as Music Times, Nashville Music Guide, Popdose, Rebel Noise, antiMusic, Review Fix, Absolute Punk and Guardian Liberty Voice, among others.
As the title of the EP suggests, many of the lyrics deal with Grant’s ongoing battle with depression, but he also explores his past of alcohol and drug addiction. The song Sweet Addiction addresses his journey to fight and overcome the cycle of alcohol and drug abuse to ease his internal pain. “Drugs, alcohol, depression, they took me out. I was heavily self-medicating,” says Vince.

IN AN INSTANT NEW SINGLE
In An Instant are a Northern Irish quartet from Bangor who, since their formation in 2013, have received considerable acclaim for their creative blend of indie rock and electronic dance music. In addition to this, they are renowned in the local music scene for their intense, cathartic live performances, which have been compared to artists such as Twin Atlantic, Foals and Biffy Clyro.
In 2014, In An Instant released their debut EP, ‘Light You Know and Love’, to a very positive reception, with lead single, ‘Something Right and Something Real’, garnering airtime from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Introducing.
MASSY FERGUSON “MAKIN IT” VIDEO
Oscar Wilde famously said that each man kills the thing he loves most.
“I think in order to survive we had to take our past formulas and blow them up. We didn’t want to rest on our laurels and do another album like past ones,” says Ethan Anderson, frontman and bassist for the Seattle, WA-based rock/Americana act Massy Ferguson.
“The songs are still cut from the same Massy cloth: American rock,” adds drummer Dave Goedde. “We just dialed up the 80s-Midwest-college-rock thing that’s always been there.”
THE AVALANCHES UNVEIL “SUBWAYS”
Today, The Avalanches unveiled the lucid dreamscape “Subways,” a glimpse into a dazzling psychedelic summertime that will take listeners back to the classic grooves of their 2000 debut album, Since I Left You. Sampling the teenage funk-punk of Chandra’s “Subways” and Graham Bonnet’s version of The Bee Gees’ late period classic “Warm Ride, “Subways” gives fans a third taste of Wildflower, the influential Australian band’s first album in 16 years.
“THE BAD PEOPLE” VIDEO
In early 2008, age 18, Space Dimension Controller (R&S, Clone, Royal Oak) made his first album in his bedroom in Belfast, now available on Ninja Tune. Crunchy, tattered and enjoyably odd – “Orange Melamine” is a lovingly produced and deeply personal album that laces supernatural sounds and translucent synths with a sense of overflowing harmony. Washed in reverb and draped in hiss, the album draws influence from the old VHS tapes handed down to Space Dimension Controller from his older brother and cousins, as well as the ambient beat of Boards of Canada and the spectral flotation tank electronics of William Basinski. The album is also steeped in audio and visual references from 80’s and 90’s sci-fi films and animations; from The Guyver and Ghostbusters through to The Fifth Element and Escape from New York.
EXTRAPERLO’S “CHILL AQUÍ” MUSIC VIDEO

The self-titled album release marked their first new collection of material in seven years and 11th official studio release. The album debuted in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart in the U.S. and went Top 10 in 25 countries, including a #1 in Japan. OFELIA K “I LOVE MY LAWYER”
Ofelia K.’s voice and compelling songs are worn down to perfection and balance wistful maturity with a certain earnest and eternally young expression. Not quite pop, not quite anything else, the young singer-songwriter showcases her beautiful symmetry with her music somewhere between an unrepressed journal entry, a comforting arm around the shoulder and her smoky, shimmering glare, her eyes so knowingly staring into you. With spins from Annie Mac at BBC Radio 1, over 2 million Spotify plays, and features on multiple television shows, the world heard her starry eyed songs and asked for oh-so-many more.
THE AMAZING SHARE “AMBULANCE” VIDEO
For the title track off forthcoming album Ambulance, The Amazing created a raw, heart-wrenching music video exploring the emotional roller coaster of loss. The video stars The Walking Dead’s Ross Marquand who came on board after falling in love with the song.
The director, Kris Merc (behind striking videos for De La Soul, Joey Bada$$), took a magical realist approach to create an reality that matches the song’s melancholia. It’s powerful stuff.
WHAT SO NOT & GEORGE MAPLE SHARE “BURIED” FT. ROME FORTUNE
Long time collaborators What So Not and George Maple share the new video for their track “Buried” off of What So Not’s upcoming EP on OWSLA / Sweat It Out. “Buried” follows the pair’s 2015 monster hits “Gemini” and “Lone” and features ascendant Atlanta rapper Rome Fortune, who recently released his debut LP Jerome Raheem Fortune. The track showcases the perfect synchronicity between the trio, pairing Maple’s velveteen vocals with Rome’s powerful voice cemented alongside What So Not’s exciting and vibrant production. It was written by all three artists, produced by What So Not & THC (Kendrick Lamar, Drake) and centers on a mind coming to terms with its inner turmoil.

LYRIC MICHELLE APPROPRIATES ALESSIA CARA’S “HERE” FOR “WANDERLUST” VISUAL
Chicago born, Houston bred artiste Lyric Michelle is back after a brief hiatus with a visual interpolation of Alessia Cara’s “Here”, a personal favorite of hers. In Lyric’s version, she explains that although her heart belongs to her city, she needs to see other cities. Tag that relationship ‘complicated.’ Lyric lives to perform and as you watch “Wanderlust” unfold, it isn’t hard to see that onstage is simply where she belongs. She owns it and the live experience transforms her. Having graced stages everywhere from SXSW to Pop Montreal and SOBs Lyric delivers an incredibly polished, live-band show that I highly recommend you catch if you have the chance.
OLSSON DROPS SUMMER SMASH “HOLD ON” FT. MAPEI
“HOLD ON” is the incredible new debut single from Stockholm based solo artist Olsson and features fellow Swedish artist Mapei. The track received its worldwide premiere on Zane Lowe’s Beats1 radio show on Apple Music as a “World First” and is available today for download on all digital platforms. Zane commented on the single (which is inspired by the current political climate worldwide and warfare) “It’s good that artists are starting to reflect on what’s going.” Olsson’s “HOLD ON” EP will be released digitally and on classic 12″ worldwide via Universal Music on August 17th.
VIEWS FOR SHANE’S “INSECURE” VIDEO TEASER EXCEED 2 MILLION
Twenty-four-year-old independent artist Shane has racked up two million views of the teaser for his new video, “Insecure.” The teaser and the full-length video have caught the attention of record labels and fans such as BuzzFeed’s Ashly Perez. Another fan posted his cover of “Insecure,” shot during a visit to Guitar Center, and yet another fan called it “the anthem of our socially anxious netflix and chilling generation.”
THE DEAR HUNTER “GLORIA”
Today, The Dear Hunter and multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter Casey Crescenzo have announced their new album, Act V: Hymns With The Devil In Confessional, out September 9 on Cave & Canary Goods / Equal Vision Records. The release of Act V comes a year after Act IV: Rebirth In Reprise. In a statement from Crescenzo about the latest installment he says, “these two albums, Act IV and V, were written and recorded much in the same time frame – though each album retains its own unique identity, tone, and experience.” Crescenzo goes on to share, “Act V, however, will be the final ‘rock’ record in the Act series. This may read as though I am abandoning the project, one record early – but the truth is simply that in knowing what Act VI means to the series, and what its story has to say – presenting it in the same form as Acts I-V would be short selling the creative opportunity it presents.”
“DO IT FOR LOVE”
The track is a dance anthem that as Maiko puts it, “tackles the risk we take on love and what a contradiction it can be; how it can feel both good and bad, but we fall anyway.” Sonically the track has an undeniably huge hook laid over playfully layered synths that play beautifully in between the pulsing percussion and bass. The track is being released through Toronto-based singles label, The Confidence Emperors.
ONI NEW VIDEO
Solidifying their position as a band to watch in 2016, rising progressive metal band ONI saw their breakout moment earlier this year with the release of their blistering new track “Eternal Recurrence”. Showcasing the band’s ability to meld chaotic progressive time signatures with blazing solos and heavy grooves (with the unique inclusion of “xylo-synth”), “Eternal Recurrence” soars as the band’s first of several planned singles cut from their upcoming full-length album, Ironshore, scheduled to hit stores this fall.
Today marks the release of the band’s new music video for “Eternal Recurrence”. Directed by Abraham Roofeh and filmed in vocalist Jake Oni’s home locale of the Cayman Islands, the video depicts a man running from a mysterious masked assailant – but is this assailant really a stranger? MEAT LOAF READYING THE RELEASE OF NEW ALBUM
Grammy Award-winning musician and acclaimed film, TV and stage actor Meat Loaf is readying the release of his highly-anticipated new album “Braver Than We Are” for 429 Records. Working closely again with longtime collaborator Jim Steinman—a key to the magic of multi-platinum selling albums “Bat Out of Hell” and “Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell”—Meat has recorded ten songs in tandem with Steinman, producer Paul Crook and The Neverland Express, which includes John Miceli (drums), Paul Crook (guitars, loops, synths), Randy Flowers (guitars, vocals), David Luther (sax, B3 organ, strings, horn arrangements), Justin Avery (piano, synths, strings, backing vocal arrangements), Danny Miranda (bass), Stacy Michelle (vocals) and Cian Coey (vocals). Guest musician Ricky Medlocke provided the slide guitar solo on “Train of Love.” The tracks on “Braver Than We Are” were written by Steinman, featuring the first song he ever wrote in a storied career to the most recent. While Crook produced the album, Steinman acted as creative consultant throughout the recording process working alongside Paul and Meat from beginning to end, sending suggestions, adding verses and contributing opinions on every aspect. The first single to radio, “Going All The Way,” streaming now at RollingStone.com, showcases a reunion with vocalists Ellen Foley and Karla DeVito decades after their first performances on the smash hit “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.” 429 Records will release “Braver Than We Are” digitally, on CD and vinyl in Europe on September 9 and the U.S. and rest of the world on September 16.

ATLANTA VENUE THE MASQUERADE OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES MOVE FROM HISTORIC NORTH AVENUE HOME
It is with bittersweet emotions that we announce today (in a somber tone with a hint of excitement) the Masquerade’s exit from our historic location at 695 North Ave. NE in Atlanta, Ga. and relocation to the future home at 1421 Fairmont Ave. in the burgeoning West Midtown section of Atlanta.
The Old Fourth Ward has been the home of the Masquerade since 1989 when they took over the historic Dupree’s Excelsior Mill and converted it into one of the country’s landmark destinations on the live music touring circuit. The century-old stone walls and wooden planks, along with a variety of old machinery left over from the building’s industrial past, provided an atmosphere for entertainment not duplicated anywhere else. Over that time, the venue played host to most everyone who is anyone in the Rock, Alternative, Punk, Indie Rock, Metal, Industrial, Reggae, Hip Hop and EDM music scenes. The stages have been graced by Nirvana, Fugazi, N.I.N, Bjork, Radiohead, The Dave Matthews Band, Foo Fighters, Motorhead, Ice Cube, Outkast, RATM, Coldplay, Green Day, Nick Cave, My Chemical Romance, Fallout Boy, and countless more. The first ever Warped Tour played in The Masquerade Music Park, as did the first Imagine Festival, the first Shaky Knees Fest, and the first Wrecking Ball ATL.

YOUNG THE GIANT NEW SINGLE
Young The Giant are excited to share “Titus Was Born” off their forthcoming release Home Of The Strange. The song, set to a trippy, digitally pixelated visualizer offers a different vibe than previously released upbeat tracks “Amerika” and lead single “Something To Believe In.” Consequence of Sound states “The song sees the band laying off heavy instrumental builds, which allows for vocalist Sameer Gadhia to deliver delicate and higher-ranging notes than typically heard from the California outfit.” The subtle and captivating track is a delicately crafted composition indicative of the new dynamics and range showcased on Home Of The Strange.
VIOLENT FEMMES HAVE “ISSUES”

“PICK UP AMERICA”
My Son Bison has spent the last five years obsessively forging its own brand of experimental folk, influenced as much by the Beach Boys as by Ravel or the gauchos of Argentina. The result is Two Faces and a Vase, a debut record that follows songwriters Dane Galloway and Joel Gleiser through a sloppy gauntlet of growth and self-loathing as they wrestle to reconcile the realness of existential ennui with the ugly entitlement it breeds. Recorded entirely on acoustic instruments – twelve-string guitar, upright bass, prepared piano, mandolin, strings, harp, horns, and more – Two Faces and a Vase is My Son Bison’s most cohesive work to date, every song shining light on where they’ve been while loudly declaring where they’re going.

MELBOURNE’S KINGS. ANNOUNCE INDIE ELECTRO SINGLE
Melbourne-based electro-pop newcomers, KINGS. have today announced their infectious new single (u) West Coast, a gem of a song that is soaked in seasonal nostalgia, set for release on July 1. The band have also announced the fittingly sun-kissed video for (u) West Coast, directed by Lawrence Phelan (Chris Watts, Reika).
(u) West Coast is a shimmering example of uplifting electro pop. Characterised by its sharp production and cyclic synthesisers, the song is intricate, dense and seriously satisfying. It transcends time and transports the listener into the haze of an Australian summer, intrinsically narrated by lead vocalist Hayden Jeffery’s honeyed, soaring vocal. The chorus is joyous, effortlessly cool, and buoyed by endlessly catchy hooks. Speaking on the inspiration behind the tune, Jeffery says, “(u) West Coast draws on the feeling of nostalgia, it’s one of my favourite emotions to feel; it sparks a very colourful and creative energy. The letter (u) in the title refers to a place where I once was and once experienced, it holds plenty of memories, stories and sentimental feelings.”
