The indie-folk singer/songwriter, George Kamel, has released an exclusive download of his new single “Mockingbird” on Mp3.com today, June 5th. Kamel will be releasing his newest full-length album, The Great Coward, next Tuesday, June 12th. This will be the third album from Kamel in the past 5 years; the first as part of Boston-based folk outfit Meadowlarks, the second under the pseudonym, Lapsley. With The Great Coward, Kamel is bringing a mature sound shaped by his past 2 years living in Mobile, Alabama which forced him to reevaluate his identity as a songwriter. Drawing influences from Bon Iver, The Avett Brothers, and David Bazan (Pedro the Lion), Kamel effectively unites the ethereal and earthly using an impressive array of folk instrumentation and poetic lyrics that guide listeners through a journey of beauty and pain.
