The quintessential live band, Pittsburgh’s Root Root, found it only made sense to reach out to their community of fans when it came time to record their new record. With the ever changing music industry, Rusted Root has returned to their roots, and plans to release their newest album independently, and decided to get the fans involved from the beginning.
Michael Glabicki, founder and frontman of Rusted Root best explains why the Fortunate Freaks Unite! campaign. “Rusted Root is a state of mind shared and explored by many people- we are a community that supports one another. The fans are as much a part of this as anyone. It is an interesting time in history and fan funding is a great way to point out the obvious; we are a band that relies on the energy of our fans.”
This grass roots effort offers the fans many differant levels of involvement in return for a financial contribution towards recording. It offers a bunch of sponsorship levels with great perks including some very cool once in a lifetime opportunities with Rusted Root. Each package ranges in price and items. Perks vary from digital items to signed memorabilia to private online shows, to having Rusted Root play live in one’s living room. All of the money raised will support the production, recording and marketing the next Rusted Root album due for release in March 2012. Donations will be collected now but items will not be received until the release of the album in March 2012.
