RIHANNA TO OPEN THE AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

You are not going to want to miss this year’s American Music Awards.   It was just announced that Rihanna will be opening the show, joining already announced performers at event, Diddy-Dirty Money, Ne-Yo, Bon Jovi, P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Ke$ha and Usher.   More performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.   The 38th annual American Music Awards will air live from Los Angeles, November 21st at 8 Eastern on ABC.

“BREAKING NEWS” A NEW MJ SONG DEBUTS TODAY

As we reported last week, a new Michael Jackson album titled Michael will be released on December 14th.   The brand new MJ track makes its world premiere today on his web site.   Head over to MichaelJackson.com to hear “Breaking News.” The song will stream on the site for one week only.   Before his sudden death in June 2009, Jackson was writing and recording songs continuously everywhere from a friend’s home in New Jersey to studios in Las Vegas and Los Angeles with a small group of handpicked collaborators.  

AGUILERA BEGINS RECORDING NEW ALBUM

After the not so popular outcome of her last album Bionic, Christina Aguilera has returned to the studio to begin recording her next effort. The singer, who’s currently divorcing her husband of five years, spilled that the project will mirror her critically acclaimed Stripped LP. Xtina stated, “(I think now) we’re back to going a little deeper, in the vein where I recorded my Stripped record, which was very personal and more introspective.” No further details are known at this time.

USHER PLANS TO RECORD AFTER OMG TOUR

Billboard.com reports Usher has big plans to implement after his worldwide OMG Tour wraps up. The crooner revealed that he intends to release new material and stated, “The one thing that is inevitable is change, and if you don’t change and adapt, then you die…I plan on keeping my ear to the street, or at least to the world, but pounding the concrete in introducing new styles. I just hope that the world can keep up.” Usher’s OMG trek with Miguel and Trey Songz kicks off Wednesday in Seattle and ends in late March 2011.

GREEN DAY’S AMERICAN IDIOT MUSICAL CAST TO PERFORM

It seems Green Day’s American Idiot production is headed to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The cast will perform at the signature stop in front of Macy’s flagship department store in New York City on November 25th. The 84th annual Thanksgiving parade will feature 24 floats and 12 student marching bands from across the country. Visit GreenDay.com for details.

BON JOVI HITS ON ROCK BAND 3

Tomorrow, Bon Jovi will put out Greatest Hits, a collection of their classic tunes, but that’s not all the will be out from the band that day.   You’ll also be able to download some of the group’s most iconic songs for your Rock Band 3.   Twelve of the Jersey rockers’ most-loved tracks, including ones with pro guitar upgrades, will be available tomorrow.   Head to RockBand.com tomorrow to get classics like “”It’s My Life,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” “Livin’ on a Prayer” and more.

LADY GAGA GOES TO YOGA CLASS

Lady Gaga has been doing her best to stay fit while in London.   According to British paper the Daily Mirror, the pop star has been attending a public yoga class, and a fellow attendee says that Gaga stayed in the “beginners” area of the classroom and was “particularly impressive” while doing two poses – the eagle and the half-tortoise.

JAMIROQUAI DOESN’T LIKE GAGA

Not everyone is a fan of Lady Gaga.   According to ContactMusic.com, Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay had some choice things to say about the pop star, including that she’s a “money-making freak for her label,” and that his band does “music, not marketing.”   The website reports that Jay Kay also had some negative things to say about The X-Factor judges Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole as well.

GAGA, TAYLOR, U2 GET TOURING AWARDS

Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and U2 were just some of the artists honored at this year’s Billboard Touring Awards in New York City.   Gaga won the Breakthrough Award, as well as the Concert Marketing & Promotion Award.   Swift won for Top Package, along with roadmates Kellie Pickler and Gloriana, while U2 were arguably the biggest winners, taking home trophies for Top Tour and Top Draw.   Read more at Billboard.com

MAROON 5, SARA BAREILLES AT CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

Christmas time in Washington, D-C is going to be extra special this year.   That’s because it was just announced that Maroon 5, Sara Bareilles and B.B. King will all be taking part in the 2010 National Christmas Tree Lighting at President’s Park this December.   The event happens on the 9th at 5 PM Eastern, and you can enter for your chance to win tickets at TheNationalTree.org.   The ceremony will also be streamed live on that site, as well as on public television.

MAROON 5 ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE

Maroon 5 have just announced what the next single will be off of their new album, Hands All Over.   According to a press release, it will be the song “Give a Little More,” and the southern California rockers will be promoting it by performing on a number of late night shows, including Conan O’Brien’s brand new program Conan, on November 23rd.   Learn more at Maroon5.com.

KE$HA RELEASES “CANNIBAL”

The title song from Ke$ha’s upcoming sophomore album, Cannibal, has hit the net. The up-tempo track will make you want to get up and dance every time you hear it. You can give “Cannibal” a listen at ThatGrapeJuice.net and look for Cannibal the album to hit stores on November 22nd.

T.I. WRITES FROM PRISON

Many are speculating whether or not T.I. will ever recover from the second blow to his career. The rapper has launched a new website designed to help him keep in contact with fans as he serves his 11-month sentence for violating the terms of his probation. The “Get Back Up” rapper wrote, “If I never went to prison, never did drugs, never f’ed up again, did everything right and never made great music….would you even care enough to comment on T.I.? Doubt it, so bear that in mind while you jump to your conclusions guys.” He added, “I’m not concerned with what negative people say more than I am with what positive people don’t. Guess that’s enough for now… Love you all still, whether you still love me or not.”

In related news, his upcoming album, No Mercy, is slated to arrive on December 7th.   The disc will include collaborations with Eminem, Christina Aguilera, Kanye West, The-Dream, Chris Brown and more.

IS THAT YOU KIM KARDASHIAN?

A new song titled “Shake” leaked late last week and it’s rumored to be from Kim Kardashian, who recently expressed interest in pursing a singing career.   However, the reality star took to her official Twitter to say, “It’s not true,” and continued to rant about it via her blog, KimKardashian.CeleBuzz.com. TWITTER MAKES BRANDY CRY?

During an interview with Upscale magazine, Brandy explained why she can’t enjoy Twitter like most celebrities. Back in 2007, the singer was involved in a fatal car accident The Dancing With The Stars contestant explained that “People call me a murderer, they taunt me and send pictures of cars that are basically annihilated. Every report has stated that I was not at fault. People still don’t care.” She says the memory still haunts her.

LIL WAYNE EXITS PRISON IN STYLE

We’ve just learned Lil Wayne exited New York’s Rikers Island jail through a back door and jumped into a 300-thousand dollar Maybach. Unlike other inmates, the rapper was granted permission to have the vehicle enter prison grounds due to concerns over Weezy’s safety. Since his release, Wayne has signed off on the probation papers for a separate Arizona drug case and left New York City to visit his hometown of New Orleans, followed by crazy weekend festivities. KID CUDI’S NEW VIDEO DIRECTED BY SHIA LaBEOUF

Rap-Up.com reports Kid Cudi has tapped actor Shia LaBeouf to direct the short film for his new song, “Maniac” featuring Cage. The cut will appear on Scott’s upcoming album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, which lands in stores tomorrow. Further details about the video are unknown at this time.

FACT: Shia previously directed Cage’s video for “I Never Knew You.”

CHRIS BROWN DROPS NEW TUNE

According to RapRadar.com, Chris Brown recently released a new song called “Between the Lines.” The track will appear on Breezy’s next mixtape, In My Zone Pt. 2, and features his “Deuces” collaborator Kevin McCall. Head over to his official fansite for your first listen.
