MADONNA TO BEGIN BUILDING SCHOOL

Madonna has been trying to get permission to build a girls school in Malawi, the country where she adopted her daughter Mercy.   The African nation’s government gave the OK for the 15-million dollar school to be built last year, but residents have been refusing to leave the site where construction was meant to begin.   Now, however, it’s time for them to go.   The Associated Press reports that 200 villagers were told to move from that plot of government land to another because it had been handed over to Madonna.   No word yet on when construction is officially set to begin.

PETA LOVES LEONA LEWIS

Leona Lewis is one of PETA’s biggest supporters, and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals are very proud of the “Bleeding Love” singer in her latest attempt to stop animal cruelty.   On the menu for this year’s Brit Awards was foie gras, which is made from duck liver, and Lewis started a campaign to stop it from being served, and even threatened to boycott the awards show if it wasn’t removed.   Because of Lewis, the organizers dropped the dish from the menu and PETA said that this was “music to (their) ears” because the awards show is now “cruelty-free.”
