SURFER BLOOD KICKS OFF TOUR WITH FLORIDA HOME STATE SHOWS

Surfer Blood is kicking off their US tour next week by playing a string of Florida home state shows. Surfer Blood’s highly anticipated debut album Astro Coast is out now.

Surfer Blood call West Palm Beach home and, while still in their early 20s, have penned an album worth of catchy, summery indie songs that even the most hook-laden power pop band would rightfully be jealous of. Comprised of members JP (dubbed “The Mastermind” by the rest of the band), TJ, Thomas and Brian. Surfer Blood met one fateful night at an after party for Miami’s Ultra Festival, though they didn’t attend the festival itself. After discussing music, what else, for the remainder of the night, JP decided to recruit the three other guys to perfect a couple of songs he had been working on for some time, and thus, the band was formed.

Astro Coast was recorded in the band’s dorm room during their Freshmen year at the Florida Atlantic University, using musical equipment purchased with scholarship money. The band scrapped the original studio sessions because they didn’t like the way the engineer was affecting their sound.

Florida Shows:
01.25 St. Augustine, FL — Café Eleven
01. 26 Orlando, FL — Backbooth
01.27 West Palm Beach, FL — Respectable Street Café

Praise for Astro Coast:

“Crunchy riffs, sunny harmonies, inscrutable humor, occasional strings, and Afropop touches. Adolescent anthems like “Swim (to Reach the End)” and “Catholic Pagans” show latter-day Rivers Cuomo who’s daddy.” — SPIN

“They dress up their guitar-mad escapades in a stadium-echo kick that Nineties indie kids were too grumpy to try. ” – Rolling Stone

“They’re young, and so is their music, but we all could use a little Vitamin D this time of year.” – Vanity Fair

“The way Surfer Blood balances escapism and grit is a neat trick, and one that never really loses its sense of wonder.”- The Onion
